FDP Forum / The Gretsch Forum / Thomastick Flatwounds 11s on my 5420T

I just put a set of Thomastick flatwound 11s on my new 5420. The improved tone is incredible. While I really like this guitar I find it very bright. The round wound strings were incredibly bright and a bit "clanky". My initial worry was that flatwounds might be a little dead sounding and loose the twang I like. Wow, was I pleasantly surprised. The wound strings are clear and very defined with just enough twang. The non wound string are full and crystal clear. Every string is well defined when playing chords with great separation in each string. I put these strings on yesterday, and can't put this guitar down. I wholeheartedly, recommend Gretsch owners gives these strings a try. Tone is subjective, but I don't think you'll be disappointed.
