The spotlight

looks like a prison break

I finally got some spare time to get cracking on this project.

First step: make the board for the circuit. There are several places that sell a board for this amp, but it's a pressed paper type with brass eyelets like Leo made 'em in the old days.

Not wanting something that's flexible (and subject to humidity leading to circuit weirdness), I decided to build a turret board on a laminated glass fiber plate. Fortunately I had a turret board in my parts bin that I could modify for this little amp. I got out the turrets, punch, and drill, and

slapped it together. I'll plant the parts on it this coming week.

I wish I didn't have to go play guitar with my pals at an all-day jam tomorrow in DC so I could stay home and relax and work on this amp to... [ahem]

That's a great book, by the way. I want to build a small amp one of these days.

Does it use red or white Quinoa Oil? Can't wait. How much did the parts cost? I MIGHT WANT TO BUILD ONE! It is a sickness! JIMMY Tango make it stop!

I was going to use Johnson's Baby Oil until I found out it's not made from actual babies.

So I stopped at Office Max and picked up a gallon of shredder oil. I'll bet that's what Steve Vai uses in his amps.

I wonder how this sounds as a 4 watt mp? I already have a Tweed Deluxe. I still want a 5 watt Blackface Vibrolux Reverb.

I have yet to devote more than 10 minutes at a stretch to work on this thing. It's moving forward!

Here's a pic of the board.

Now I'm waiting for the tree to get big enough so I can mill some flat lumber to build the cabinet.

Yeah, this is taking waaaay too long.
