Gives a 335 a run for its money, doesn't it? Those LB-1 “Little Bucker” pickups make it remind me of a killer MIA Epi Riviera with Mini-Humbuckers in it that I used to have.

Infriggincredible...loving it. Guitar reminds me very much of my, now departed, Guild X-500 Stuart...love the CE100D.

These are all 'Drool Inspiring' guitars!!!

And a case........What? Perfect!

I would like to feel the neck profile and fret type, because me and vintage frets don't get along because I squeeze the neck too hard and get the worst drag when playing. Have never been a light touch player. And the back of the neck finish, need to feel it also for hand drag there... But overall, these Starfire's are magnificent in every regard, just need to get hands on and truly test it out. We are playing so many genres that this would fit the bill in so many ways, other than, I am a 57 Classic pickup snob and from what I've seen, I don't think the pups on these guitars will leave me feeling lacking for the styles of music. If they get a tone somewhere between a TV Jones and a PAF, then the guitar would serve my interests!
Just beautiful....

RJ makes every guitar he plays sound unworldly good...Guild is very wise having him demo their products...very wise.

"If they get a tone somewhere between a TV Jones and a PAF..."

That is a pretty good assessment. The Guild humbuckers are lower-powered than a typical humbucker, and they can get sparkly--in a good way. I have these pickups in a

Guild X150D Savoy.

"The Guild humbuckers..."

How close are those to the DeArmond Goldtones that were in the DeArmond guitars c.1999?

The ones in the X150D (production year 2000) are marked DeArmond.

I have not pulled one out of a current-production Newark Street model to confirm, but they do sound the same.

May be the same. I got a couple DeArmonds (M75 and Starfire) with the Goldtones when Sam Ash was blowing them out in '01 for $300(!) each. They made a point of saying the pups were US made.
...and they can get sparkly--in a good way.
