I got the Duo Sonic a few weeks ago but hadn't posted any pics...
I've fallen in love with the 24" scale so much, I had to get the Mustang version! The Mustang just arrived on Friday arvo.

The new series are MIM only, but I'm very happy with the quality. (fwiw, *all* my Fenders are MIM)
Had to do a few tweaks as I always do, but all in all, very good. Lots of fun to play!

As a result of my "sell a couple, buy a couple program", I'll have to do a "2017 Family Photo". The herd has changed dramatically since the 2015 photo... ;^)

Now you need a 24" with the proper trems!

It's not about using the trem as much as the sound that the things impart.

Mustang doesn't sound like a Mustang without it, even though I've used the bar ..about never!

Awesome. Love the orange. I have the olive colored new Mustang. I have a thread on it somewhere here.

"...I have the olive colored new Mustang..."

I didn't like the Olive when I first saw it (even IRL) but it started to grow on me after a while.
I think the pearloid pickguard is what makes it work. My first pick was the Oly White though.

FWIW, I've already made some changes to both of these. I swapped out the bent saddles for solid steel block and changed the pickups. Also changed the tone cap value and put in a treble bleed cap.

I put Fender VN's in the Mustang and Lace Sensors in the Duo Sonic. (Light Blue - neck; Burgundy - bridge).
I didn't realise how ordinary the stock pups were until I changed them, but that's just me. Both guitars really came alive with the pickup upgrade.

Oh, and the saddles was just a comfort thing. The bent steel ones rub on my right palm too much because I like to keep my hand close to the bridge.

Did you put those Vintage Noiseless pickups under the black pickup covers of the Mustang or was that not possible, or even desireable from your standpoint? I really like the simple look of the black covers and also how they complement the black knobs.

Hey Peppy.

I just used the stock VN covers.
The VN's have staggered poles (so the "holeless" covers won't fit properly) and standard pup covers don't fit over VN's either.
I did get VN's with black cover so it has the same contrast and I don;t mind the visible pole pieces.

It still looks pretty sharp imo, and sounds WAY better imo too.

@ Peppy
If you're put off by the pole pieces but want to reduce noise, you can get the Lace Sensors with black covers. They do all have the Lace logo but it doesn't stand out too much on the black ones.

Some people are quick to point out that Sensors are "noise reduced" not ""noiseless", however, I've been using Lace pickups for 5 years and never had a problem with 60hz cycle hum. (well, 50hz here)

Thanks for all of the info. I haven't used Lace Sensors in probably 25 years so I'll at least re-educate myself. The pickups on the Mustang could stand some 'oomph'.

I loved the EMG single-coil that was in the neck of my vintage Mustang back when I got it in '90 or so.

Complimented the stock bridge one very well somehow.
