FDP Forum / Fender Amps: 1985 - Current / Fender Twin RI problem

My Fender Twin amp which is less than a year old died. Tubes don't lite up, red light does not go on, only a hum from the back. After talking to Fender who told me of a Fender authorized repair place, I drove to this repair shop. Fender told him they were aware of the problem and it has to do with the section that the fuse connected to. The fuse is ok but it's the section that the fuse is connected to that is bad. It's been 3 weeks without my amp and Fender is waiting for new parts from China that is going through customs. I am suppose to get the amp back next week.

1. For an amp that has been around for many years I am surprised of a amp Sam Ash recently receiving from Fender to have this problem. Would they have resolved this problem years ago? Perhaps they replace the part recently with a cheaper part to save money and now they have a problem.

2. Anyone else had this problem?

The repair guy told me Fender is pretty good with quality control and their tube amps usually have very little problems. Amps from Mesa and many boutique amps are a lot more temperamental I was told. Hmmm, we will see.

Bad batches of parts have always occurred, no matter the source.

If they're waiting on a fix, they're waiting on a fix.

Doesn't sound out of the ordinary when something goes wrong.

The good news is they are taking care of you. It takes time occasionally. Parts is parts. If Fender had to scrap a bunch of questionable pieces it take a while to refill the pipeline.

When first released the TRRI was a bit problematic but Fender sorted it pretty well over the years. You should be fine after this repair.

My TRRI had various power issues that developed shortly after I bought it. I took it to my local amp shop.

They opened it up and found a couple bad solder joints. Also there was some loose pieces of solder rolling around creating shorts.

But the bottom line was it required a little clean up and new solder joints and I've had no problems since.

My amp shop is an authorized Fender repair facility and they pretty much see it all. I'm told the quality control is not terrible but this is something they see.

Waited a long time for my amp to be repaired. Getting it back tomorrow; can't wait. I am tired of the pushed mids on my Boogie especially for the clean channel.
