I was at a guitar show today. Came upon one of these. It had body damage from a drop and was $140.00 due to this plus being lefty, the guy just wanted to move it. Said he had 105 in it.

I admit I wasn't at all interested due to it being a Sqier and the Crafted in China stigma.

I did love the honey blonde and gloss maple neck, and thought it odd that it had the vintage tuners and vintage bridge with the three brass saddles. I didn't know much about these and never expected the Classic Vibes to be Chinese made. Then I got to googling and read great reviews.

For $140 I would love to at least rob the neck and hardware for my MIM Tele (don't think the bridge will fit) or just keep it around.

Any opinions?

I don't have a tele but I do have 2 Squier CV strats, crafted in China. They are great guitars. Forget what the headstock says, just play and you'll be surprised. I know I was.

I had one of the 50's CV Teles from the 1st year of production. It played and sounded great......except:

The neck was too thin from front to back, could never get completely used to it. That's the only reason I sold it.

I had one when they first came out 5-6 years ago; it was a 50's. I had heard some folks talk about too-slim necks but mine was about a medium C. Great guitar.

If it was a righty, I would have snatched it up for kind of money.

I had one but sold it. One of my "seller's remorse" guitars.
I now have 2 MIM Teles and love them both, but the CV 50's was every bit as good though.

I had one of these. Bought it brand new right when they came out. It was a MIM-killer for less $. I also sold it later. I loved everything about the guitar except the smallish-feeling neck. In retrospect I should have kept it and put a new neck on it. It would have been well worth the investment.

Well, I went back next morning to get it, it had just sold. I snoozed and losed.
