Safe question to ask around these parts? I've seen mando boards go all Harmony Central at the very question, which is hilarious to me. I went out looking for a pick I remembered from the 70's. Tear drop shaped with a cork base. No joy...came home with a packet of small Dunlop Jazz picks with a pointy end. But I've seen reference to bigger/rounder picks for Mando, which seems counter intuitive to me.

FYI, I'm not buying a pick that costs as much as my mandolin did. ;-)

My dad play mandolin he was using a regular thin guitar pick. When I started playing around on his mandolin I used the same pick and continued using the same pick when I picked up the guitar. I like the flexibility.

Dunlop nylon max grip 1.0mm for me. Fairly stout and is a great pick for really pushing the mando for a variety of tones.

Clayton Ultem 1.20 mm or Dunlop Ultex 1.14 mm.
Inexpensive and closer sounding to ts than plastic picks. I round and bevel the points to give a smoother, less trebly attack
