I originally did this first one a couple years ago. It's big silver/rainbow holo flake and I used lacquer. It looked pretty good for a while but did not age well. Fifty coats of lacquer turned my silver flake gold so I redid it with 2K urethane.

Instead of stripping the old neck and body I just bought new ones. I took the good stuff of the old body and slapped it back together with stuff out of the parts bin. I gave it to a friends kid that's learning to play, so it's still getting banged on some.

It's got normal tele wiring with humbuckers and a two point wilkinson trem. Sorry about the bad pictures, cameras can't seem to focus on holo flake.

This ones a garage sale special from one of the other guitarists at church. Based on the weight I think it might be a tombstone with a mahogany veneer. I think the previous owner had taken a belt sander to it. The top and back had big dips with the veneer sander through. He wanted it purple. I filled in the valleys with bondo and told him he was getting a solid color. I went with a purple and green chameleon pearl.

Here's the

The third project is the ongoing orange sparkle lap steel. I don't have any updates on it. It'll probably be another month before I can start with the stenciling.

I went with the simple signature this time, folks were getting sick of the stink bombs in the pickup routes.

Anchovies. Brilliant, I could smear some anchovy paste in all the cavities and call it "shielding paint" or mojo.

Thank you Mr. frogman, although I'm not sure if it's art or an abomination. I'm no artist that's for sure. I'm more of a sander than painter. Anyone with good lighting, patience and lots of sandpaper can do the same.

I finished up the explorer finally. Everything was in pretty rough shape so I dug through the parts bin and found some chrome hardware. I leveled, crowned and polished up the frets and made a new nut out of the water buffalo horn. Put some green and purple strings on it to go with the colors I could see. He's pretty happy.

I give up on taking pictures of chameleon paint jobs but here's a
