So lately when someone sends me a link to a pic on Photobucket, I get a pop-up that demands I sign in just to view something in someone else's album.

Am I the only person fed up with this? Am I doing something wrong? I probably am: I'm expecting Photobucket to be useful like it used to be.

I think I'm done with it.

I'd do a spoonerism with Photobucket just for gits and shiggles, but it would not be appropriate for children!

No, you're not the only person fed up with this. No, you're not doing something wrong, well I'm pretty sure about that.

I usually exit when I end up at Photobucket.

Long time user of photobucket. It is crap these days. Not what it used to be.

I park my photos there for online use, but have noticed lately that they take longer and longer to show up in my library after I upload them (like sometimes several hours or half a day). Don't know why that is, but do know that it is annoying. And yes, there does seem to be more and more pop-ups associated with using that site than previously.

I think they want it to morph into a pay/subscription service if you don't want to be subjected to the pop-ups.

Flickr is the new PB. I get the pop-up on the latter too but I seem to be able to dismiss it without issue.

Some of these photo hosting sites seem to lock up my browser for a while, maybe a minute, when I click links to view pics posted by members. I also sometime can only see a thumbnail sized image. load times are usually slow.

I don't personally use these sites for my pics.

It would be wonderful if everyone would label their links with PHOTOBUCKET or YOUTUBE or whatever so that we know what is waiting before we click. I don't knowingly click on Photobucket as I have to close my browser to get unstuck.

I noticed a change where everything loads slow and hangs there. I don't pay the extra money they ask to remove all the ad's that take forever to load and it's on each page. I mainly use it to store photo's in case my PC dies. I have them now stored on a thumb drive.

Not what it once was by any means.

Lots and lots of baggage to plough through now days on PB.

Sadly, I have a lot of PICs stored there and some of them don't exist any place else :(

Go grab 'em and save 'em into Flickr. Way smoother.

Or use a cloud host such as Dropbox. You can share stuff (with controls) there too.

I don't like PB or Flickr. PB never seemed to work well, and when trying to view peoples Flickr photo links, I find that the photos always look blurry, and the functions don't work. Sometimes it's just the photo, sometimes it's to the person's library. There seems to be no consistency.

The pop up adds with the little "X" in a box is the closest thing to a video game I play and I'm getting good at it "o)

Can they be easily moved? I have not put a lot of effort into trying, but have been under the impression that it was not a simple deal extracting from PB.

I'll take a look at that.

So... what is a good hosting site? I don't mind paying a reasonable annual subscription if that's what it takes.

Like Peegoo said- DropBox

you can create public folders that require no login or ads or anything. I keep photos, documents and anything I want to move between computers in there

You get a decent amount of space for free and you pay for more if you need it

right now my smartphone auto uploads to Google Photos and Dropbox. So I never have to move anything and I can get to them on any system with an internet connection

Does DropBox have photo-centric services like gallery views, etc?

My own photos for here I stick in my profile. I never create links directly to Photobucket from threads here.

Leftee, no, it doesn't. But that's the beauty of it. It's dead simple.
