FDP Forum / The 'Pup' Tent / Suggestions for Nashville Tele with Mini Humbucker Neck

Building a new parts Tele with Nashville route and mini hum neck. So looking for pickup recommendations for all 3 positions:
1. Tele bridge pickup
2. Strat middle pickup
3. Mini humbucker Neck pickup

Guessing it's kind of a Brent Mason deal as far as pickup configuration goes. But I don't necessarily want the exact pickups he uses - or that wiring/switching configuration he uses too.

BRIDGE PICKUP!
When I think Tele, I think about that bridge pickup. Everything else (to me!) is just complimentary. I definitely want to go with a vintage-voiced type bridge pickup. Not looking for a Lil 59 type thing or hot rail type thing. Just something that gives classic Tele bridge tone.
I'm far from a real country player. When I think Tele, what I like is Page (early Zeppelin and later The Firm), Beck (Yardbirds), Muddy Waters, Syd Barrett, Albert Collins, etc. Heck, even old Buck Owens. A Tele that sounds like a Tele.

After that, just looking for a Strat type middle and mini hum neck that pair nicely. I remember Fender offered a Butterscotch Tele a few years ago with a traditional bridge pickup and mini hum neck. I really liked that combo. I've also always liked the Nashville idea of putting the Strat pickup in the middle. Figured I'd mix the two.

So far, I've mostly looked at Seymour Duncan offerings. I'm leaning toward a SM-1n for the neck. That's their Vintage mini humbucker. I figure it's the lowest output of their mini humbuckers, so it should mate well with the single coils.

Middle? Haven't a clue.

Bridge? Help!!!

I kinda like a Tele with a mHB in the bridge!

Doing it you way I'd put a Van Zandt True Vintage or Vintage Plus in the bridge. For the middle I'd use a Van Zandt True Vintage RWRP Strat PU.

I've had nothing but great results using the Van Zandts in my Strats and Teles.

I hadn't even thought of Van Zandt. Thanks.

I guess they don't make mini humbuckers, so I'd have to go a different direction for that. So far, a Duncan SM-1n seems to be at the top of my list.

Before they went with Noiseless, Fender used to put a Stratocaster Texas Special middle pickup in the mid position of the Nashville Tele. I built one like that, paired it with an Original Vintage Telecaster ('52RI) bridge pickup and was *very* happy with the result.

Don't have any suggestions for the neck position humbucker, though.

Thanks, Te 52.

I'm fairly sure that Fender put a Duncan Vintage Mini Humbucker SM-1n in the neck position of that butterscotch version they sold a few years ago.

This may be a nice combo:
Fender '52 RI
Fender Texas Special
SD Vintage Mini Humbucker SM-1n

Bear in mind that the Fender P'ups will have opposite polarity from the Duncan mini-humbucker.

I just wired up a Tele with a Duncan Broadcaster bridge and a SM-1N mini-humbucker neck (a la AV Hot-Rod '52 Tele).

I was going to go with a Fender Nocaster bridge, but I couldn't find the Fender that was not part of a whole bridge/neck set. I also learned I would have to break the cover/baseplate ground on one of the p'ups to reverse the polarity of one of them if I went with a Fender/Duncan mix.

Ihave that configuration and went SD mini-HB for the neck. There's 2 variations of the mini, I believe.
