NOTE - If you ever wanted to get a Marshall JVM series OD tone, the Katana's brown channel gets this exact sound.

I used to own a Marshall JVM410H head and loved this one setting using one of the OD channels (sort of a Hendrix/SRV tone that made neck pups jump). That's the only thing I missed about that amp which weighed a ton, but now I can get that tone for a mere $200 investment!

On the rare occasion I want Marshall, that engine does a stupid good job for that.

Been enjoying it since the GT-001/100 v2 it's using in the Katana came out!

"You guys are my enablers."

Ditto.

I'm glad these amps are so successful (because they're so good); it means they'll be around for awhile, and there will be good used ones available.

So I don't have to be in a hurry about getting one - but I will eventually get one (and probably sell my other three electric & acoustic guitar amps... heck, maybe I'll get two and leave one on the worship platform at church all the time, and one in the man cave...

I am down to 2 amps - one tube and one SS. And they both work well for me. So I don't *need* another amp.

That's where my enablers come in.

I'm going to wait for V.2 so I can feel superior to all you early adopters.

You both may be waiting a long, long time.

Boss is Roland's baby and has VERY long product cycles.

The GT-100 engine under all this stuff and the Katana is still being sold in the flagship unit...over five years later. There's been one software revision that added some features.

Same with the GR-55, released in 2011, still sold today with only a software update (and a change to the black color scheme).

They're not chasing the upgrade dragon like Fender etc.

ps - The brown channel is from Boss' very expensive Waza amp line.

"They're not chasing the upgrade dragon like Fender etc."

Thank you! Line 6 has (IMHO at least) headed south since the POD 2.0 and the Flextone II. I've tried every POD since the 1st one and have hated each one, particularly the latency issues, along with the amp models sounding terrible.

I blame my GAS on Leftee dragging me to Guitar Center to demo a 100. It's a good thing we're saddled with doctor bills right now.

Man, you guys have me tempted. I sold an unused bass amp and the guy at one place in town said he'd sell a new 100 for $263.

The more I am tempted, the more I shop. The head seems like it would be the model for me. What cinches the deal? The internal speaker.

He's on tour with a band for a couple of days, so I'm enjoying a cooling off period. I'll say something here if I jump on it.

Guitar center seems to have several of them used already. Not great discounts as they can't be too old. Seems odd to me but I'm pretty satisfied with the 50. I was afraid the 100 would be way too much.

This is all very tempting, frankly. However, in the last few days I've used the $$$ for various hurricane, disaster and earthquake donations. It'll have to wait...

I think they're still making more of 'em... ;-/)
