Was offline for a day while they duct-taped the cell towers, back in biz. Spent yesterday cutting up branches. Landline/WiFi still down. 2 doors down, a huge backyard tree got upended, ripped up the poor lady's backyard all the way to her house taking out her water in the process. A pals new car ate a palm tree about a mile away. As mentioned in the thread we also got a bunch of tornado alerts, but all in all Casa Dolemite was unscathed.

We fared very well in Vero Beach. Second year in a row that the hurricane veered away from the Treasure Coast. Makes me wonder if our luck is used up.

my house in Ft Lauderdale had no damage, but a couple of small trees got blown over. I'm good with that.

My sister who lives about a mile away from me reports that the water and sewage systems are running again. Still no power to the house and generator is handling that. Airport is reopening today in Ft Laud.

Mrs P flew back on JetBlue who have done an incredible job without price gouging the public. She's going to head back as soon as the power comes on and finish the house reno. It's down to punch list jobs and almost done.

I talked to Debbie last night, three of our fence panels came down, that's it, everything else is perfect. No power yet but that should come along shortly. Out here at the farm there still no power, neighbors are all over the place helping each other. No real damage everybody is just fine.

Power still out here. Major oak tree damage, some roof damage from where a limb clipped the eaves. Verizon network has been hinky and can barely get on line.

To be continued.

My mother-in-law lives near Sebring. My wife sent me a picture of a collapsed bowling alley in Sebring. We haven't heard from her, but I'm optimistic.

That was a huge storm. Unbelievable how it even shwacked areas far north of Florida with bucketloads of rain.

It never fails to amaze me how millions of tons of water can easily float around in the clouds and then come down like a waterfall across such a widespread area. In-croy-ab-lay--as they say in France.

My new neighbor sends me a message that he’s coming over to pick up my generator, I can’t get it started, and he did last night. Then around 8:00am he sends another message that it’s running. He brings it over. My outside electrical panel is set up for this kind of stuff, I just needed to wire the 240 volt/30 amp wire to it. I shut down all the circuits breakers except the refrigerator and lights I don’t turn on the on-demand water heater or the well pump(240v). He said run the fridge for 4 hours to get stuff cold then shut it off at the breaker and fire up the well pump, listen for loading of the generator, never got around to doing that. The neighbor comes over and asks if I heard an explosion, I did, he says “it was a transformer on the back of your property, one of your trees caught fire but it went out.”

We flag down a SVCO power company guy that is driving like he’s looking for something, he drives onto the property and tells me I should have power, he drives back to the exploded transformer in the back then he takes off to the line on tim’s property the LCD on my meter is on, my new neighbor says the guy just turned you off. I figure he had to cut power to the exploded transformer, OK. I shut off the power company's line and fire up the generator. Ten minutes ago I go out to top of the generator cause now I’m getting net flix, thought I’d watch a movie then shut down the gen for a decent nights sleep. I see all of Tim lights on and figure they fixed it already, they did.

The power company has a right of way on my property, behind me is the huge Dasher Seed Farm. It’s occasionally handy to have main power transfer lines on your property. I’ve got the air on and I’m gonna take a hot shower, the nice thing about an on demand water heater “o)

I live in the east Orlando area, our power went out Sunday night at 8 PM and finally came back on today in the AM. We had all the windows covered with plywood, plenty of water and canned food and a Coleman propane stove so that was no problem. The big problem was trying to sleep in the heat so I'm ecstatic that we have power again and A/C. The house is on high ground so flooding isn't a worry but the Little Econlockhatchee river is only about a 1/4 mile away and I've never seen it so high in 34 years.
All things considered, we are safe and sound, no damage to the home, and a few days of discomfort were bearable. I can only give thanks to the Almighty that we made it through OK.

There was one aspect of the power outage I enjoyed. With no light pollution I was surprised how awesome the night sky was. Reminded me of summer nights in Canada.

Got back Monday night just after dark from 150 miles north. After we shuttered up I couldn't stand the idea of just sitting and waiting to get clobbered again. We rode Cat 4 Charley out in this house and were being told this storm wound be worse. Se we loaded up our cats and hauled our butts up to a cousin's house 150 miles north at about 3:00 Saturday. Taking the inland county roads to avoid the mess on I-75, our flight was a nice ride through the country instead of heavy traffic and organized chaos.

For a while it looked like we we might have traded riding out a cat 4 in a shuttered house to riding out a 2 or 1 in a house with no shutters. As it was there were tornado watches and warnings the whole night through. Nothing hit us, but there was a strong whirlwind on the other side of the subdivision we were in that tore up a lot of trees and took out power lines.

We came home to only minor damage to the soffits in a couple of places and even had power. We were Blessed.
