Here's pics from yesterday's hike in Shenandoah National Park. I hiked the Skyland-Big Meadows Horse Trail from the Upper Hawksbill parking area all the way down to Rose River Falls. 8.3 miles and about 2,000 feet of ascent. The weather was perfect for hiking yesterday, the starting temp was about 50F. Most of the land I hiked belonged to my relatives prior to the mid 1930's, when the park was formed.

SS2, I'm currently using a Nikon Coolpix A900. Those videos are in standard 2K HD. The camera can record in 4K UHD, but I don't use that capability because my home computers really can't process that much data.

Before that I used Coolpix S6300 which was a little more compact, but they don't make that model any more. Probably any of the Coolpix series cameras would work. If you plan to use the zoom much then I would get one of the larger ones like the A900.

My 2 cents.

I used my S6300 so much that in cold weather the lens cover sometimes didn't want to open all the way. Plus it needed another battery. So I retired it.
