I spent two years in Key West and one on Big Pine, which got hammered the hardest. Not a good place to be lately, so sad.

We spent a lot of great vacation time there. Among the visits was hurricane Andrew 25 years ago. We made it to Orlando just in time. Always felt at home in Key West. It will make it all the way back. Too cool no to.

We were planning on seeing friends play at Snappers in Key Largo next month. The place was flattened by Irma.

We've been going to Islamorada the past few winters, so the mess that the ocean facing inn we stayed at must be pretty bad. Properly built structures of reinforced and anchored block, jacked up on pilings seem to have faired well in the videos I've seen. The bottom line is that insurance will either not be renewed or not available or inadequate to rebuild. A problem in the Keys is housing for the laborers and service people the tourism industry depends on. The destruction of the lesser quality housing stock will only exacerbate that issue.

Our timeshare is right next to Louie's Backyard restaurant on the south end of KW. We bought it in '88 and have been there maybe a dozen times over the years. fun place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.

We have FantasyFest week and that brings in a lot of money along with Goombay Fest and Parrothead weeks. All three happen in late October. Bad karma for your liver. Best of luck on the rebuild.

The city will to do everything possible to get back in operation for these events Hearty souls down that way.
