One of my favorite sci-fi films of the 50's and one I haven't seen in ages. FYI to all the FDP heads out there. ;o)

Yes, Amazon Prime has cornered the 'B" movie market lately. Some classics like:

Robot Monster
Last Man on Earth (Vincent Price)
Space Boobs in Space
Curse of the Swamp Creature

And the amazingly truly really awful (MST3K riffed it too)

Invaders from Space - with Starman and the Tokyo High school gymnastics team!

All great stuff. Invaders Martian in the globe? Scared me to death as a kid.

It had two different endings, USA and Brit.

Truly cornball along the lines of most of the 50's sci-fi flicks and really, really bad acting. I wish pot was legal here...

Yep, that's one of my favorites to watch, too !

It's a chilling cinematic moment when they send in the Flying Wing to A-Bomb the Martian machines and, after the enormous atomic blast, there is a pause and then the giant tripods come walking unscathed out of the huge clouds of dust and smoke. Yikes !

Yep, one of my favs.

I remember the victim sinking into the sand.
Kind of a quicksand thing popular in the 1950s.
And the fence behind the house.

I guess the fact that a kid like us (at the time) was a main character contributed to the attraction.

That movie gave me nightmares when I was a kid. My adult children laughed at me when I told them how scared I was after seeing that movie for the first time as a boy.

I think RKSTRAT nailed it.

Production quality is laughable by todays standards but they were way ahead of their time on the chip implant idea.

"Different film, Mike."

Ooops, you're right, Chris. I was thinking of the 1953 version of "War of the Worlds".

Ummmm, but I agree the '53 edition of "Invaders From Mars" is cool with a neat "flying saucer 1950's" vibe to it. I also like the old 1956 version of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers".

best part was the aliens running through a cave to attack, all of them lean and muscular, except for one obviously overweight, short, squat guy.

I can't remember another blessed thing from the flick,though..

I remember the zippers down the back of their "skin" suits, and I think one guy wearing a watch.

Thanks for letting us know.

I watched it last night while doing some mindless paperwork.

About 20+ years ago, I rented "Plan 9 From Outer Space" just for laughs. Mrs. Thommie was so entertained that she actually BOUGHT a copy!

I'm going let her know about "Invaders from Mars" just in case she may find it entertaining as well.

Is that the one where the people taken over had a little thing sticking out of the back of their neck. I remember looking for that after seeing that movie.

When you were 5 or 6 yrs old when this came out, it had a profound impact on your psyche. I think I checked a couple of times on my parents necks for the tell tale X.

Yes, it was campy, and not very well done, especially a flying saucer landing sounding like a DC-3...but it was a kids nightmare.

Nothing else with the exception of the original Godzilla made such an impact on me.
