What are the smallest feasible tone/vol pots and 2-pickup switch to be had? I'm looking to rewire a 2-pickup guitar with a very small control cavity. Thanks!

The mini pots from allparts work very well and I've never seen one fail any earlier than regular full size pots. The small toggle switches they sell are also ok.

A stacked pot (as on a Danelectro or a Jazz Bass) allow you to have two coaxial potentiometers in a single package.

So you could do it with a stacked pot and a 3-way switch. The stacked pot would contain master vol and master tone.

The schematic would be like a Telecaster, but instead of two separate pots, you'd have a stacked pot.

Up to you which knob is vol and which is tone. On my Danelectros, the ring knob is the vol and the center knob is the tone. I like that arrangement.

Thanks for the great replies, folks. The Allparts web page seems to have just what I need. I never considered the stacked pots option - a great idea.

One more query: which mini-toggle switch would correspond to a conventional neck/both/bridge pickup switch? I've wired up conventional Strat, Tele and SG switches, but never have used a 3-position mini-switch for pickup selection; I'm uncertain what to order.

You need a DPDT mini toggle that has On/On/On positions. Here is a link to an example available from Stew Mac (item 1223 or 1224) but these are widely available switches.

This gives you an idea of how wide prices (and quality) vary for these kinds of switches.
