Online Black Friday weekend sales got the best of me. Definitely didn't "need" it, but I sold a Gibson Les Paul last week (didn't really "need" that either) so I figured what the hell....

Olympic White, maple board, got a GREAT deal. 15% off, no sales tax, free shipping, 36 months no interest. How can you go wrong? :)

If had a dollar for every thread that had the phrase "I didn't need it" in it...

I could buy another guitar I didn't need!! :^)

Congrats! I've heard lots of good things about the JV's. never played one though.

Also, I may or may not have "something" on lay-by that due in January...

"Congrats! Have they changed it any?"

No changes to my knowledge in recent years, other than maybe available colors. I do have a first-year Tex-Mex Strat in Vintage White with a rosewood fretboard. This model was endorsed by Jimmie Vaughan, in Fender advertising, but it does not bear his name. After about a year or so of production, these became the "Jimmie Vaughan Tex-Mex". The original Tex-Mex had a poplar body. They are alder now. Also, the current Jimmie Vaughan has a soft V shaped neck, my Tex-Mex is C-shaped. Both have the Tex-Mex pickups, not sure if the wiring is the same or not.

I remember those early Tex-Mex strats, Stratrocker. When I first heard there was a JV model, I thought those were the guitars.

I had a JV strat, Olympic white. It played & sounded great! You'll love it, for sure. Enjoy!

Congrats - and enjoy!!

I've had my Oly White JV since I bought it new in 2000. GREAT player!

I've swapped pickups a few times, but now I'm back to the stock configuration. The only changes now are a gold anodized pickguard and a 3-way switch.
Cool tones and one of my favorite Fender necks.

Skydog6653, was it too heavy?

I have a Jimmy Vaughn Strat and it is NOT heavy. In fact it's a bit lighter than the Hot Rod Strat that I also own. The JV has been my "go to" guitar since I got it over 6 years ago. A lot of guitars have come and gone but that one has a permanent place in my small guitar family. They are great guitars and you should enjoy yours a lot.

I gigged with a JV for several years. The V-shaped neck took very little time to get used to. The large-ish frets and beefy pickups made it a real player and a tone machine that covered a lot of musical ground.

I still have it, but it has morphed into a Strat with three Danelectro lipstick pickuos.

A great guitar all around.

Damn UPS! The tracking number originally stated that it was slated for Thursday delivery. Then another e-mail that they are updating delivery to Friday. I know that it's been at the local hub since Friday early AM. Then I get another e-mail update, Friday afternoon while still at work, stating that it's delayed again...now I'll get it next business day which is Monday. Soooo.....I write down the tracking number, drive over to the customer counter at the hub after work yesterday (where I have confirmation that it arrived approximately 16 hours prior) and ask the counter person if I can just pick it up. He types in the tracking number and agrees that yes, it is there, but there's no way for him to get it because it is "somewhere in the system" with thousands of other shipments. Patience, patience.... :)

Be patient, Ralphie. Santa will bring you that Red Ryder carbine action 200-shot range model air rifle with a compass in the stock and that thing which tells time :0)

I have a new favorite! Love this thing. Came with a pretty good set-up. My first V-shaped neck. Very nice. It even came with strap locks which I wasn't expecting. Will get a pic up when I get a chance. :)
