I love to play in bands. Give me driving rhythm section and I'm a happy camper. But I haven't had much luck in finding a band down here. Not a lot of demand for a 70ish guitar player.

So I've been doing open mics and meeting people on Craigslist. Now I'm in two duo situations, have "for fun" jams at my house two days a week and one jam at a community clubhouse in an RV park!

This week, I had something going every day from Monday through Friday. And I'm loving it. I'm gonna keep going til I'm 80!

I kept my hand in the game for quite a while playing at Open Mic's and "Sit in with the Band" type venues it was really fun. A good way to keep playing.

The last band I was in finally fell apart after almost 10 years together. Haven't been a band since but kinda missing it. I'm getting ready to retire soon as well and hoping to find opportunities to play with others during the weekdays as other hobbies fill the weekends. I'm "only" 60 but also hope to play until I decay ;-)

Wow, it's a year since I started this thread. Now I'm in two bands and for the first time in my musical life, I'm making $$ playing my guitar. At 70, I'm amazed that someone would pay me for what I love doing!

Right behind you. At 75 I don't have to worry about "herding cats" and can still set up a Fish "stick".

Congratulations! I’m also in 2 bands now, for the first time, after kind of a long drought. And in January, after I retire, I’m considering starting my own band. Honestly think I could handle it, I want to play as much music as I can from here forward! A youngster here at 65....
