Is that the same Tele with the black pickguard. I really like that look.

Cal-Woody,

It is a different tone. Kinda of P90-ish.

Rocky,

Yes, that one.

Note to self. Never mess with a finished body ever again.

I have a result. I am ready to reassemble the body. The headstock is curing.

It’s not bad. But I will never try to finish anything but an unfinished body in the future.

I made that mistake a lot of years ago, Eric. Trying to take the finish off a poly body is like trying to break through Titanium! I finally gave up and tossed the body (it was a cheapie body I didn't pay much for, thankfully).

Well, I took a different route. I sanded the face of the body to rough it up. Then I mixed the green stain with some Minwax Polycrylic clear gloss. My thought was the just bring some color to the face of the body by laying this over the clear on the body.

It worked out OK. I don't hate it. LOL

It seems to be pretty permanent.

I used rubbing compound to bring out a shine.

It'll do. I'll snag an unfinished body at some point and do it up right.

I can probably wet sand the edges of the green with 2000 grit and even them up a bit. Then use the rubbing compound to get rid of the sanding in marks.

It’s pretty hard to damage the finish. Nigh-on impossible.

The cockroaches will be playing this guitar after Armageddon.

Worst case... I’ll be able to spot it in a pawn shop if it’s ever stolen.

I'm calling the Backwards-o-caster done.

Rocky, text me your address and your preference. Chrome or gold tuners on that neck?

That's the in-stock Warmoth neck I found a while ago. It's their Vortex, modern tiltback headstock. Maple & Rosewood, 25.5" and I stained the maple mahogany. It's the '59 neck carve and 1 11/16". A nice beefy neck. SS 6105 frets.

I still need to set this guitar up for the new neck. But I did tune it up and play it a bit.

The neck relief is about right - right out of the gate. I had intonation set with the old neck and it's not egregious now.

The guitar exhibits more "squonk" now. It's an attitude. It was a weird change I did not expect. But it is really there. It is pretty cool. Played through my DR or AC30 model on my Vypyr it sounds like it could cut through anything. The Marshall model brings in the bottom end more and it rocks hard.

Love the feel of this neck! It's a 10"-16" compound radius. I have a 1 3/4" '59 on my Strat and this neck feels beefier. I assume because it's a narrower nut.

I might have the green Strat finished (again) tonight. I was not pleased with the stained headstock so I did something different with it.

The Strat-thingy goes back together today. :-)

I’m on bereavement leave this week. Celebrating the life of my sister and working on guitars. :-)

Fun to watch this transformed.

Again, sorry about your sister. Maybe you should name one of these after her?

Thanks and thanks for the opportunity.

This green guitar is all kinds of fun. I think it’s my favorite cheapie.

I was thinking about a custom truss rod cover for the Tele. :-)

It's a bit hard to capture the headstock as it is now. I used Rustoelum glitter paint on it.
