Of course I wanna Jam!Feb 19th, 2018 10:13 PM Edit Profile
Looks like you guise is haffin way too much fun with this jam. I'm still working on Mrs. Littlehand to let me travel south with me brither Grizbear, to participate, if you'll let me past security. This is a real tough one due to the boy scout father/son camping in Forestburgh, NY the previous weekend. The simple fact is..."happy wife, happy life" has significant meaning to my well being. Since I missed the last Clamfest in my hometown, my hands, big and little, are itching to rock out. Someone please say "hi" to Peegoo for me...oh, I just did, whaddaya know. keep on pickin' FDP brothers and sisters. ;^D

My Fellow DC Jammers
If "Littlehand" (AKA Bigfoot) does grace the Jam, I will ensure that he reads the charts BEFORE he plays. (inside joke from Clamfest)
@Steve: If K-9 can't make it, you will have to substitute "Banjo Solos" to cover. (Remember NO KILTS)
The voices in my head predict that this will be a great jam; they also voted and decided that Mom always liked Littlehand best.
See you all soon !

All systems are go for the jam on Sunday, 3/11. Weather will be sunny on Saturday, cloudy but no precip on Sunday.
The major risk is the TIME CHANGE 2 AM Sunday morning. Change your alarm clock. Setup starts at 10:30 AM, first song at 12:30 PM.
Drive safely everybody!

@tiller2: I just saw the updated "rearranged" song list.
The "voices in my head" are all heading to the board room for an "Emergency" conference. One of the many ailments they have is OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive-Disorder), and they are in full disarray. My Psychiatrist has "tripled" the amounts of all my psychotropic medications.
My Cardiologist saw the list, noting that I will be doing fifteen (15) songs in a row, and increased my heart medication.
Littlehand has confirmed that he can't make the Event.
THIS IS GOING TO BE THE BEST JAM EVER !!!!!!
See You all soon.

Griz... as you might have surmised the "rearranged" songlist was scrambled by someone else, as I had mistakenly allowed edits to folks whom I'd shared the link with... whatever. Fortunately I had a separate offline spreadsheet with the correct order.
Thanks for helping make this a good jam, I hope you had a smooth cruise home.

Well....that was fun!! (To quote Bill Murray from "Stripes").
Some good, some wobbly, some songs the drummers decided to end too quickly...
And I made total word salad of Suffragette City, but I don't think anyone noticed. :-P
Since Peegoo is gone and a couple others missed out, we might want to assign "Lead Guitar" and "Rhythm Guitar" slots, that way, the person knows what they're expected to play. If "rhythm person" can take an extra solo, all the better, but if that spot is "blank" on the signup sheet, the rest of us know there will be NO solo.
Anyways, thanks to all! Especially Andrew for herding the cats!

My Fellow DC Jammers;
I, and the "voices" in my head thank you all for another GREAT time. I am safely home and already thinking about the next Jam.
Special thanks to Andrew for organizing this event, a magnificent job, & well done.
The thing I like about these jams the most is; that I get to visit with old friends, and at the same time meet new ones.
In addition, I get to play on songs I have never done before, but always wanted to. My special thanks for that opportunity.
Within the group; I heard different people say "I made a mistake" or "I wish I had done that differently". That is not something to even consider, or worry about. A group of us have a saying. "There are NO mistakes at a Jam, only NEW arrangements."
With that, I have to gather the "many voices in my head" and get them back into the "Griz-Cave" (they can be a pesky bunch at times)
And Steve: Thank you for NOT wearing kilts!
See you all soon.

All FDPers who made the trip: Thank you!
Marc & Griz, all tips are welcome (we even have a jar for them, haha), and I might even follow some of them ;) For example:
Next year, there WILL be a stage monitor. And we'll probably have 40 songs on the setlist, not 51, so we'll have fewer open slots...
And we gotta tighten up our transitions between songs. Said Jen, 'I thought it was women who took a long time to get ready.' hahahaha
The most important thing IMO was the positive, happy vibe throughout the place. That alone makes our efforts worthwhile.

Yeah, we missed you, Geno!
While our participants from Up Nawth remain a huge and appreciated asset, this year we did build our local DC capacity, both technically and in new and enthusiastic talent. A promising prospect for 2019.
Hopefully you're jammin' with the jackals.

sorry I missed it. Glad I was able to help a little bit in the pre-organization. I think you guys are ready to fly on your own! Looks like the DC contingent is solidified enough to be self sustaining :)
count me in for next year and hopefully I can duck out of work travel to be there!
now how about some pics and more vids??

"I think you guys are ready to fly on your own!"
Indeed, though your advice and presence will always be appreciated. I'll be fine on the main organizational lift. At the jam, someone local stepped up to setup and tweak the PA.
"Looks like the DC contingent is solidified enough to be self sustaining :)"
Just about. We are fragile as long as any one person, or geographical contingent seems indispensable (i.e. risk of schedule conflicts, weather). I'd like to recruit a few more DC people spread across the band roles. Nor is it certain that we can get the Maid next year, though Joel, the manager, says he will try.
But now is the time to raise a glass to a solid jam. (clink!)
That done, when's Clamfest? :^D
