I've only had one in my life, and that was a Yamaha back in the late 70's early 80's. After listening to T-Bone Burnett's soundtrack to the Netflix series "Godless" I realize I need one. :-p

How about a nice used Alvarez-Yairi classical from eBay or Reverb? Lots of them out there.
Cedar tops, usually, and rosewood backs. Very well-built instruments. Big fat necks.
I'd like to have one too.

Lots of options out there - Yamaha still makes a variety at different price points. I'd definitely go for a solid top...can be had for $50-100 more than many laminated topped models.
What's your price range?

I have an Ibanez AEG10NII. It serves me well for the little I need it. It has electronics with both Hi Z and low Z output.
Solid spruce I think with mahogany sides and back. They are $300 street price brand new. I'm going to keep it a while longer until I find a deal on a Taylor Nylon.

Thanks for the recommendations. I haven't given price point much consideration, was thinking along the lines of something like Seagull but don't think they make anything but steel string acoustics. So I guess $500 and under.
This would be sporadic recording when the tune called for some of that.

La Patrie is the classical arm of LaSiDo guitars. Check their website. I got an Etude several years ago, solid wood, has served well for my casual use.

Doesn't Taylor make a nylon string as part of their new student series? That's not what they call it, I don't think, but one of those should be within your budget.

I think that is the Taylor Academy 12e-N.
The Taylors have not been traditional classical guitars but as they call them just nylon string. That is part of the attraction for me.

Thanks, Hammond101 - that's the one. Pretty nice instruments for the price.
Also, you can buy them with or without electronics (in case you have a favorite you'd prefer over Taylor's pickup). Price difference is around $100 street, I think.

I like the Academy series. Nice features for a decent price. The arm rest is very cool.
This thread has me wanting to play some nylon. I'm sitting in with a friend tonight to become "The AcoustKats". I may bring my Ibanez for one of the sets.

A few years ago, I bought a La Patrie Concert (solid cedar top, solid mahogany back and sides) from MF for about $500. Very decent classical guitar.
