Is this a vintage Fender style strap on the BTR cover
that was in this time frame? Cannot find anything like it...can anyone help?

Guitarstrap.com claimed to have sold him one (I personally have one of their straps), but their website is either down or gone these days.

The strap linked below is (kinda) close.

Definitely not a Fender strap. Try searching Ace or Bobby Lee straps...if I had to guess its probably a Bobby Lee strap.

I would describe it as a plain black leather strap. I would imagine you could pick one up virtually anywhere. I've got one myself, made by Levy's

The "button" is a New York Elvis fan club badge, if that's what you're referring to.

A better pic of this is on the greatest hits cover: I have never seen this type before.

The thin leather going into the larger leather ends with a screw device and the same goes for the other end.

Pinetree: Close but that just goes over the shoulder. The one I am referring to continue down the back until the thinner leather is attached to strap locks that connect to the larger end? CANNOT FIND IT....lol

That was not a commercially-made strap.

From what I can tell...Sprinsgteen got that strap at a 1972 gig at the Back Door Club in Richmond, VA. As he and the band returned to the stage from a break, there was a leather guitar strap on the stage in front of his amp.

He asked where the strap came from; it was made by a local leather artist in the audience named Tom Eure, and was a gift--as Eure had been a big fan of Steel Mill and the BSB for several years.

Springsteen dedicated the next tune (Cowboys of the Sea) to Eure.

Please leave tenpence in the tin :o)

Peegoo- u nailed it. I was gonna say this must be a custom strap that was made. I really appreciate it BTW how did you come up with that.?

Thanks for that link Piney. I ordered a brown croc-a-gator strap. Very reasonable prices!

About a year ago I received a Walker & Williams "all leather" guitar strap as a gift. The main portion of the strap is leather, but the overlays are cloth-backed vinyl or poly-U. Since it was a gift, I was not disappointed.

But if I had ordered it, expecting a true all-leather strap, I'd have sent it back for a refund.
