I lived in NC at the time. Oddly enough I think that very guitar is hanging in a pawn shop here in VA.

I've had it since 2002; modded it numerous ways multiple times and it continues to be one my most regularly played instruments. The neck feels absolutely great (to the point I had a refret done @ 10 years that cost more than the original guitar with case) The specs have changed numerous times with the Bullet Series, but last I knew the body thickness was up to standard Fender size. Mine is of the "thinner" era, but I still love the feel of it. You'll probably want to swap out the pickups after a very short time. Let us know what you think after you get it!

Did a set up, re-slotted the nut for some Cobalt .011s. Greased it up - fretboard, nut slots, pots. Raised the pickups. Twang-o-licious. You oughta hear it thru the used Marsh Deluxe I just snagged. Snappy as heck, neck pickup is juicy. Will gig with it soon.

First with Mitch Woods/Rocket 88s @ Funky Biscuit - jump blues in a 5 piece combo w/piano, sax, upright bass & drums. Ran in into an old BFDR, mostly front pickup with tone rolled off. Nice fat tones. Second gig was with Charlie Pickett @ Young Circle amphitheater in Hollywood. 3 guitars/bass/drums, knucklehead Roots rock - think Son House and The Stooges in a five car pileup. Used the 100w Mustang III on a Marshall patch with a MOSFET pedal for solos. Screamed like an ex-wife. It’s a keeper!
Stratokatsu Miami, Florida Playing wrong notes for over 50 years	May 31st, 2018 12:20 PM   Edit   Profile   I have 2 of the Bullet Strats, one trem and one hardtail. Based on bang for the buck, they have me thinking about a Bullet Tele. My generalization is that the Bullets are extremely workable guitars, cheap enough to afford mods to whatever you might want, but playable enough as they are to adjust and use as is. For a home hobby player like me, they are the best value out there.
CurtO USA Are there power outlets in Heaven?	Oct 31st, 2019 10:28 PM   Edit   Profile   It appears that Fender switched the body wood from Alder to basswood on the Bullet Tele. I had an Affinity on order, than switched to a Bullet just because its going to be heavily modded and I could get it a couple of weeks earlier, AND I like the string through bridge vs the top mount. I'm a bit concerned about the softness of a basswood body. Any others have basswood that can share feedback? (on any guitar, doesn't have to be a Squier Bullet)

I also think it's too easy to get sucked into tonewood snobbery. I'm not saying body material makes *no* difference, but it's merely one part of a bigger sum imo. I own 3 basswood guitars 2 strats, 1 tele. They all sound great. (even when I play 'em!) ;^) FWIW, basswood with Fender's poly finish makes for a very durable instrument, providing you don't smash it like Pete Townsend or hit it with a ball-peen hammer. If you're going to be changing hardware, just be mindful of making sure you start the screws properly so the new screw goes into the existing "threads" of the old ones and you'll be fine. And don't over-tighten them! If you strip one out, dowel & re-drill, easy peasy.
Peegoo Contributing Member ********** ********** ********** **** Lauren's a tractor	Nov 1st, 2019 09:29 AM   Edit   Profile   Mick, try this: In a good screw hole in wood (one that's been formed by a screw and is not already stripped), carefully place a single drop of water-thin CA and let it cure for at least 10 minutes. This saturates the wood fibers around the screw hole, forming into a hardened 'threaded insert' in the wood. It is ideal for applications where a wood screw will be removed and replaced over time. (1) Form the wood first with the screw to create a threaded hole; (2) add the CA, and (3) let it cure...I don't need to explain why this step is important!. This makes stripping out the wood very difficult unless you really try to do so. I learned this years ago when building R/C planes that used balsa wood, which is a super-soft wood with no screw-holding capacity. Do the CA trick, and balsa holds screws like maple.

I'll be tossing less quality electronics with the Bullet. Does anyone happen to know if the body thickness is the same on the Bullet as it is on the Affinity Tele?

The body thickness has changed over time with the Bullets and Affinities. They used to be thinner, then they got thicker, and at one point, they were "full" thickness. I pretty sure the current Affinity are slightly thinner than Fender MIM models, but can't say what the latest production Bullets are. There is much discussion about this online. I once saw reference chart someone put together but it a number of years ago and probably not reflective of current production.

I paid less than $100 for this thing. I'll be swapping out the pickups and control plate as i just happned to have them laying around. However, the bridge pickup sounds great to my ears. I will definately be replacing the neck pickup. Other than the neck pickup, it plays, looks and sounds fantastic. Best $100 bucks I ever spent.

It needed a little work when it came in. There was a little problem with the pickups and the frets were a little scratchy, but it's totally worth $130.
