Did you make any?

I have two:

Walk on the treadmill 30 minutes a day. My wife and I need to go walking, but it is unbearably cold outdoors. So my wife dusted off the treadmill and for two days in a row and we have both gone at least 30 minutes per day.

The second: Start more FDP threads. I'm more of a poster than a tread-starter. But here goes.

No resolutions. I don't want to set myself up for abject failure. The only resolution I ever was successful with was a resolution to not make a resolution the next year. :o(

From the perspective of, *every day is the first day of the rest of my life* ...

I simply make my choices moment by moment as they approach.

There are many of the larger values judgments or core principles I live by that could be seen as choices made in advance or resolutions of a sort, but what day it is on the calendar has nothing to do with them.

When I recognize something I need to change about myself ... I simply do it on the first day of the rest of my life.

Don't speak unless spoken to.

Or in other words:

Most people will just talk to me,rarely will they actually want a response to what they say.

So don't try to have a conversation.

If they want an opinion they will ask.

I'll see how it goes

Blondestrat: "When I recognize something I need to change about myself ... I simply do it on the first day of the rest of my life."

That's the best way to improve oneself. With us and the treadmill, we recognized with all the busyness around Christmas and New Year's, we had not taken the opportunity to go out and take a long walk. But when the time came, it was unbearably cold, as most Americans have experienced. So my wife dusted off treadmill and got it working again. Just happened to be on New Year's Day.

Four for four so far. I'll get on it again shortly.

I don't really make New Year's resolutions, but the weight losing goal is always there and I plan on working hard on that.

5 pounds down since the 3rd.

Don't expect to keep that up, Mike. One pound per day is not good for you.

A pound of flesh is equivalent to approximately 3500 calories, so if you reduce your caloric intake by 500—1000 calories per day, you'll lose approx 1 to 2 pounds per week, which is considered a healthy rate of weight loss. If you exceed that, it can take a toll on certain organs; they are forced to work too hard.

Stick with it, brother!

I don’t, but it seems to me there’s an initial level of fat assery that you drop quickly just by changing your eating habits. The first couple of weeks, you lose pretty easily. It’s after that it becomes harder. At least that’s been my experience.

Not quite as scientific as your analysis, I know, but equally true.

I know what I need to do, now I just need to do it.

As far as losing weight, a few years ago Dr. Oz made a statement that makes sense.

He said that with a given metabolism, a given caloric intake, and a given activity level, there is a given weight.

If you weight 250 lbs. and begin to eat and exercise for a 180-pounder, you will lose weight for sure. But you will get down to 180 pounds and quit losing weight. If you are like most people, you will wonder why you are not losing weight.

Also, according to another source (I think Men's Health magazine) you should not lose more than 2 pounds per week. If you do, you are losing bone and muscle.
