I didn't know Halford was back with the band. That is good news--even though the replacement guy was pretty dang good.

Glad they’re still rockin’. I think Sad Wings of Destiny was my first intro to metal.

So, my Judas Priest story everyone asks:

I DETESTED them back in the 1980s. My wonderful girlfriend in high school, just as I was transitioning to college, developed this love of AC/DC and Judas Priest.....

That head-bangin' hard rock stuff just didn't set well with major Rolling Stones fan me, so I perceived her love of these bands as 'straying away' from me. And of course, my instincts were correct....as soon as I went to college, she was shacking up with one of those 80s hair-band guys, and they were off into their Judas Priest hard rock world, leaving me to mope for years with no girlfriend. But we stayed close nevertheless, and I admittedly was impressed when she described over the phone just WHY she liked them. It was Rob Halford's intense dedication to the performance, especially live. I respected that.

She of course married and then quickly divorced this head-bangin' abusive speed freak a few years later. By then I was with another gal, and she later married a New Zealander who I very much"approved of."

With my love angst over, I heard "Heading Out to the Highway" on the radio, and had to admit, I loved that stuff. I've still not bought an album of theirs, but I have much higher respect for them, now that the issue is not clouded by my love angst.

Great story!

I also will do my best to apply some attention to this band again.

Perhaps there is hope for me.

When asked about the longevity of their career and their fan base, Halford said “If you banged your head at 15, you’ll bang your head at 50.”

I’m 61 and I have a headache.

Much better than I expected - the songs are written around what he's got left in his voice a lot better than the live performance of the old material has been IMO.

My favorite Priest stuff is still the "not quite sure what we are" psychedelic oddball stuff myself where it's veering into what will become speed metal (the whole shebang of oddities on "Sin after Sin" is the best of that for me), but I wouldn't hit "off" on the radio for this.

I got major kudos from my schoolchums for 'discovering' Judas Priest.

In reality I just spotted Sin after Sin in a second hand record store, thought it looked sufficiently 'rocky' and bought it - followed up by Sad Wings.

It's decades since I've listened to that sort of stuff but it's nice to dip back in from time to time for nostalgia's sake.

The addition of Richie Falconer on co-lead guitar after K.K. Downing retired really reinvigorated JP as a band.

I saw JP back in the early 80's with Iron Maiden as the "opening act."

I love and play all styles of music, but I'll always be a ROCKER at heart, including metal.

I'm IN !

Nice and fresh.

The new fellow is quite good, almost looks like K.K. and plays superb.

Now that Rob's back, its all good !

My favorite album is still "Unleashed in the East" though..
