It's being reported that guitarist Eddie Clarke, last of the classic Motorhead trio, has died of pneumonia aged 67.

I was a big fan back in the day.

RIP Eddie and thanks for the tinnitus!

Very sad news. I love his playing on the Ace of Spades album and the other early Motorhead releases.

For those who don't know, Eddie was a Strat wrangler. I think he just used single coils on his Strats too.

I can't say that Eddie ever did anything really clever or that I can point to a particular solo as being a 'classic' but what he did was exactly what was needed to cut through Lemmy's ovedriven bass and Phil's double kick drum assault.

As for loud; they weren't loud as in 'the record for the most decibels ever recorded by a rock band was ... etc etc' but I made the mistake of being in the front row with my head pretty much wedged in one of Lemmy's bass bins and I swear that my hearing never recovered.

RIP Eddie, classic times. Very glad I got to see that line up play on the Bomber tour.
