Daisy, one of our Shih Tzus left this trophy on our back step.

( BTW, the title to this thread should be Shih Tzu 2 / Possum 1)

My GSD sniffed one out on the fence a couple of months ago. It got its tail caught between the boards and couldn't run away. The dog was about to administer the "Coup De Gras" when I got out there. Trying to free the critter and get it to the vacant property across the street was a real chore while trying no to get bit!

I didn't know that a Shih Tzu was that aggressive. Kind of a bloody mess.....

She isn't agressive but very territorial, I guess. Actually, she's very lucky that she didn't get bitten or her face and eyes clawed up..

Don't get me wrong, I like Shih Tzus. My parents had 4 at one time, and my mom has one now. Great house dogs.

But you're right, JAFO, yours is lucky. Mr. Opossum is a nasty beast.

That is one fierce puppydog. Opossums are not known for their pleasant attitudes.

Thats kind of hilarious since Shih tzus are a bit challenged in the bite territory. My shih tzu is such a teddy bear that I couldnt imagine her hurting anything until I saw her put our little yorkie in his place.

Budg, that's funny because that happens here quite often. Our Yorkie will try to push Daisy or Sophie, our two Shih Tzus, around and they'll lay their head on the Yorkie, pinning her down. I know our Yorkie's thinking, WTF, this isn't supposed to happen.

JAFO, that is funny. Our yorkie is somewhat of a dominant one , just a little guy of 6 lbs. Our Shih Tzu is just slightly bigger , but not by much. When I get them out of their crates in the am Jada the shih tzu starts yapping and barking in the ear of our yorkie just to remind him in case hed forgotten overnight who was the boss. Actually it works out quite well in the pecking order as Jada is mostly easy going. If things were reversed simon our yorkie would just bully Jada.

Shih tzus are my favorite kind of dogs.

I owned a Shih Tzu... 17 years... Ooh Long Pooh Chi.

They are known for big hearts and a bold stance toward intruders. Do not under estimate a Shih Tzu.

Possums are bifurcated appendaged , over grown rats.

Shih Tzus are our favorite, also. We've had Shih Tzus for 25 years. One time, a few years ago while on vacation from the Middle East, the Mrs and I visited a Yorkie breeder. We were so taken in by the little guys we took one home. Their personality is so much different than a Shih Tzu but they'e very lovable nonethe less and she has become an important part of our household.

^ Nope. They were already over the rainbow bridge by the time I saw them. Both had snapped necks, I think. Anyway, I took them out to the trash bin and checked on them the next day. No change.
