Listened to the live album “Way Out West” on my commute home tonight : “Every day(I Have the Blues) just knocked me out. Forgot how much I love these guys in their early days.

I loved the way Toy Caldwell sang. I spend way too much time playing "Can't You See" in double drop D tuning.

I have a fond memory of tagging along on dad's business trip and Marshall Tucker Band being the only cassette in the car :)

I dig their music, but I saw them once, post-Toy, and their singer was a drunken mess.

"Take the Highway" and "Fire on the Mountain" are great songs. Looks like I'm going to do some MTB binge listening today.

Big fan here. Can’t You See was the first song I learned to solo over.

Oh yes. Back in the 70's our band used to play lots of MTB music. We also wore the hats like they wore, but we were wearing those hats before I had even heard of MTB.
Some of you may have heard the recording of "Fire On The Mountain" that I posted a few months ago.

Big fan here. Everyone in the band was a great player and they were *tight* live. They made some really great music.

If I never ever ever again hear 'Can't You See' at a jam, I will still die a happy man. Good LORD that tune is almost as bad as The Weight at jams. Somebody's gonna call it every time. Yuck.

But that's not the MTB's fault :o)

LOL @ Peegoo, I feel the same, I've played the song countless times at jams. I do like jamming out at the end though. ;)

Saw them open for the Beach Boys when the kids were younger and they were into "Kokomo" so we took them to the concert. Of course, Marshall Tucker was way better, for me anyway. Kids were sleeping by the time Kokomo came on.

Big fan of the original members. Doug the bass player is the only one left. At least as of couple years ago he was.

Doug Gray is the only original member left, and he did sing a lot of the lead vocals in the original band.

I saw MTB about 12 years ago at a free concert, and they were just a shell of their former glory. Doug was drunk and after about four songs he walked off the stage complaining about the soundman's mix. He never returned and the rest of the band basically jammed for the remainder of the show.

"Searchin' for a Rainbow" is still one of my all-time favorite albums. It is a good one!

Word from a friend who last summer caught what is left of the band is "don't". They are not the MTB or even a good Marshall Tucker tribute band. He was most disgusted.

That is sad.

When bands don't know when to quit and start to really stink, they become a musical equivalent of...

well...the truth is most painful for the audience.

Love them. Saw them in the early 80's with Toy and have seen them a few times since.
