I know this comparison is old, but

Is it worth it? Is there that much bang for the buck more?

I wouldn't bother unless you desperately want the features in the new unit.

I don't do phone app only stuff, so no new Mustangs in my future!

I have a Mustang Iv2 and I love it. Those are still available, I understand, and I think at a really good price.

So as reverendrob says, unless the new features of the GT line are key, you may find a new Iv2 to be a great bargain and will result in a fine amp for your purposes.

They are vastly different tonally. I have the 100 watt GT not the 40, but having owned a 100 watt mustang V2 i can comment of the basic tonal difference in the modeling, and to me the GT is far superior.
