....in Fiesta Red with a rosewood fretboard for a reasonable price. Not a Custom Shop model. An MIM Standard or Classic 60s Series would be awesome. You can get a 50s Fiesta Red with a maple neck....why not a 60s with a rosewood neck?

Sometimes dealers order special runs of non-standard colors. I did a quick search, and found this one (MIJ Classic 60's) from Andertons in the UK. It says they're no longer available, but you might contact them. That particular combo would be more popular in Britain, of course, because of the Hank Marvin association.

A few years ago, I got a Classic 50's in non-standard Dakota Red from Dave's Guitar in Wisconsin.

Fiesta Red/rosewood might just be my favorite Fender color scheme.

This is a case where the fact the Fender guitars are put together like erector sets out of interchangeable parts can really help you. Exchanging necks, bodies and pickups is really not difficult if you're at all handy, and when you sell off any excess pieces, you may well come out ahead financially.

Back in 90's I'm guessing when the MIM 50's and 60's first came out, wasn't there a full palette of the classic colors available? I remember playing a shell pink/rosewood one at local shop in Michigan, actually thought about snagging it. When I came back it was gone, one of the sales guys bought it. Anyway, I thought they had fiesta red/rosewood at one time.

Love Fiesta red and though I favor maple prefer a rosewood board on that color.

littleuch, I think they did a Dakota Red on the 50s and a CAR on the 60s, but I could be mistaken.

Te 52, I hear you on the "erector set" concept. I've built some parts-o-casters over the past few years. I have considered doing this, but I've already got enough ongoing guitar projects. If Fender built it, I'd be a customer for one. :)

The numbers would probably convince me otherwise, but the wood doesn't go stale - I don't know why they don't just load up on a few custom colors on bodies and store them away. I think most people would pay the old-school 15% extra for a custom color or whatever it was.

I'll be taking a pass on this one. Truss rod adjustment at the heel is a deal breaker. No tone control for the bridge pup doesn't help. Also, while I generally like Pau Ferro boards, Fiesta Red needs a darker rosewood board.

I have one of these on order at Musician's Friend. It wasn't a stock item but their special order team said they could get me one.

Look for a mid 90's California Series Strat.

You could buy a Strat you really like but with the 'wrong' body color.

Switch out the body with a red one (DIY, Warmoth, etc.), and then flip the original brand new body on Fleabay.

I already have this on order at MF. I didn't want another partscaster. With my luck, I'd take a loss selling the extra body on Fleabay. :(

My new 60s Fiesta Red Lacquer Strat arrived yesterday. I think this is my new favorite guitar! The Pau Ferro board is dark enough as to not be objectionable, in my opinion. At least it doesn't bother me. :)
