I ordered a lefty Emerald X-20 Artisan back in November. Just got word this morning that it's ready to ship (all the way from Ireland!).

Soon I'll have tracking info - and I promise a good review and real pics when it arrives!

Until then...

Mikey, very cool guitar. I visited Emerald's website and read up on them. They make some beautiful instruments. Have you ever played or heard one? Also, where is the sound hole? Is it in the scooped area in the upper bout?

JAFO, yeah - the sound hole is that area where it looks like a critter from Jurassic Park took a bite out of the upper bout of the body! That also has the pickup controls mounted in it.

I've only heard videos of these, and some of them sound very good. I'll be trying all kinds of strings on them to see what delivers in the tone department.

I did two "upgrades" - I upgraded the pickup to the LR Baggs Anthem, and I upgraded to add the Gig bag (the Artisan comes with their hardshell case).

Nice tone - and playing

Sweet, congrats! I used to have an X7-OS, and currently have a Balor five string bass. My bass is pretty enough that it shows up regularly in their marketing - it has an outrageous amber maple quilt top.

Emerald makes amazing instruments.

Well, this is taking longer than expected, but it finally arrived in the US today... now it has to get through customs (once they figure out it's not made of wood - hah!), and travel halfway across the country... I'm hoping for next Friday, but not holding my breath.

It's here - arrived on Monday! I should have posted here, but I'd posted in the Lefty Forum and "left it" at that...

...but the guitar is great. I'm impressed by everything about it - the build, materials and sound are all above what I expected (and I expected a lot from the videos I've seen/heard!).

So far I've just tweaked the truss rod a little. I'll probably lower the strings at the nut just a tad, but they're not as bad as most guitars right off the shelf. I'll eventually try some different strings, too, as it came with EXP 80/20 bronze which aren't my favorites. But I hate to waste a brand new set of coated strings!

More later, and there are pics in my profile - as you can see from my pics compared to the stock photos - it looks a bit darker/more copper colored - and to my eyes, that's a good thing.

Love it - still getting to know it! More to come.

It sure is a thing of beauty. I can't wait to hear how it works out with other acoustics or in a band situation.

I've read some reviews that claim composite guitars work best as solo instruments. None of those where about the Emerald.
