They've been mentioned in the Jag/JM forum at minimum.

Well now Fender has come out with the Alternate Reality Series. Seems to me to be the same basic concept as the Parallel Universe Series with several new models and a redesign of the Meteora model.

These scoundrels from Fender have managed to pique my interest with the Sixty-Six model. They’ve taken a Jazz bass body and scaled it down to guitar size, and put a Jazzmaster maple-boarded neck on it. The bridge p/u is a covered dual coil, and the middle & neck positions have Tele neck pickups in there. Strange choice with the Tele pickups, but they do work from an asthetic standpoint IMO. Bridge is a six-screw standard Strat style trem. Three colors - Clear poly, Surf Green and two or three color burst, I don’t recall. From an asthetic standpoint I find it unrelentingly compelling.

The Alternate Reality looks to be a less limited, more affordable "Parallel Universe."

The only one of the ones shown at the recent NAMM of interest to me (and I probably won't) is the tenor electric.
