Walked into Gryphon today and played the new 914 with the latest "V" bracing pattern.
I A/B'd it with a new Taylor 814 sporting the old bracing pattern.
Bottomline for me is that the new "V" bracing pattern definitely DOES make a difference in tone and it's for the better. Sustain higher up the neck is MUCH better. No doubt about it at least as far as MY ears are concerned.
That said, it's still got the "Taylor sound". That's a good thing to zillions who own Taylor guitars (I currently own 4 of them). However, the Collings and Martins in my stash still win handily in the tone department vs any new or old braced Taylor.
Of course, YMMV.

Nice to here this from someone who's opinion I trust. The factory and dealer hype on the web has been huge for the bracing upgrade. I'm glad to hear it is more than just hype.
Do you own a Taylor dread Mr. 6?

"Do you own a Taylor dread Mr. 6...?"
I bought my grandkids GS Mini's and my daughters a 114 and 214.
"6, what was the price tag on that new 914...?"
Sorry Ragtop, but I didn't even look at the price. I believe they are in the $5K range but I could be wrong about that.

Generally speaking, yes...that seems like the correct price range.
