I *had* to string it up tonight.

This is, indeed, *my* Strat. I love this thing. Now even more.

Another side-note. When I disassembled it last Sat. I weighed the body at 3lbs 10 oz.

It weighed in exactly the same after paint and clear - before sanding and rubbing out. I always thought paint affected the weight of a body - even if only a little.

Tardy plastics should be here by the weekend.

Thanks fellers!

It looks good in person too. Not just the picture. I couldn’t be happier with the result.

Still waiting on the backplate. And the knobs are darker than the pickup covers. I might play around with different plastics and see what I see.

Nice job Leftee!

I just realised I don't have any blue guitars anymore... thanks for reminding me!

I have a couple sets of strat pickups, pickguards, tuners, hmmmmmmm... All I really need is a body & and neck.
Did I say *need*???? Uh-oh...

Thanks Mick! I was also out of blue guitars. This was a fun/rewarding way to fix that.

I followed Mr. Goo’s 7 step process to prep the body and I lightly sanded the shellac before paint. From there I followed the instructions on the rust-oleum cans. All this was accomplished on day one.

Day 2:
The finish was such that I was able to go right to a 2000 grit wet-sand followed by some 3M rubbing compound. By far the sanding and rubbing/buffing were the most time consuming steps.

I am quite pleased with my results.

Next time I will use a clear finish. This was frost pearl clear. I love the way it turned out. But I want to do a body with the crystal clear finish over color the next time.

And there will be a next time. This was too much fun. (-:
