"The CSTs sold out last year. Or maybe earlier this year. Foggy, when did you buy yours?"

Leftee, just checked my receipt. 11/27/17

"Leftee - Modern Marshall are very bright. I turn the bass all the way up and the treble and presence down on my Marshall DSL40 and DLS100H."

5Strats...Thank you for those settings, it's made a huge difference in my amp!

Funny story, but yeah that c12n is bright. I have a P12q in my drri and its finally broken in enough where it doesnt make my ears bleed.

I've got a blues jr with the C-12N, maybe that's why it seems so bright to me. Time to tweak the settings again.

I pummeled that speaker as described and it helped a bit.

With the bright cap I have in this amp now I can actually use the treble and presence controls with the red channel.

These have a wide range of “Marshall” in them!

Hey fellas. I’m asking a favor.

If you bought an amp because of this thread, please email me your name. Turns out Sweetwater has a referral program.

Thanks!

My light is on.

Leftee and reverend mikey, I work in that library and decided that one holiday when the whole place was closed it would be fun to see how loud the amp really was.

So on a Memorial Day I dragged the stack into work and fired it up. I only own the top cab still (it's got a JTM45 on it now) but it was a glorious sound!

I suspect all it takes is a tube change, right?

Hey Leftee. My tech (LOL) came over after work to check the bias on the DSL 40 for me. It was 29 from the factory. Since i hear everyone say they like 35 to 38 on these things, we turned it up to 35. Man he could make that thing growl, with the volume on 2 and gain on 8 with the crunch button on.

Green channel that is.

It's amazing what people can do, that actually know what the're doing with lead.

I'm more like guitar George lol!

Mine was pretty much at 38 - both tubes - from the factory. 29 is low/conservative. He woke up those EL34s! Amazing, ain’t it?

He sure did, not sure why it was set so low. Maybe someone messed with it, before i got it.

It happens.

Back in the ‘80s it seems like they all came biased cool from the factory. Probably to keep warranty costs down.

I am digging mine a lot. My 335s love the thing. Still working on getting my strats dialed in. The low end on this thing is amazing. Outside of Fenderland this amp has the tones I’ve been missing. The crunch is just amaaaaazzzzzzing.

I was watching a YouTube video of someone reviewing the DSL 40, and he called it the Swiss Army Knife of amps. He may be correct.
