I had "fun" yesterday installing an American Professional Strat HSS pup assembly into my '90s era MIM Deluxe Series Floyd Rose Strat.

The good - I didn't mess up the soldering or stripping the plastic from the wires (it's a new Am Pro assembly I bought off Stratosphere).

The bad - The Am Pro Strat assembly does not fit a Floyd-equipped Strat. I knew this going in, but didn't think I'd have to trim much off the pickguard.

The ugly - I had to cut off a lot more of the pickguard that I thought and, while I got it to fit, it's not 100% (it was hard to fit the volume pot into the pup cavity). The lower end of the pickguard around the Floyd bridge isn't cut cleanly because all I had were some larger wire cutters.

I'm going to order a legit HSS Floyd Rose Strat pickguard and install it. (:oD

Do you have the original PG from the Floyd Rose Strat?

Warmoth or WD will make you anything you want from a tracing.

If you have a Dremel you can use a little sanding drum to cleanly modify the edge of any pick guard to accommodate different hardware.

Pinetree - Yes, I've got the original pickguard.

Peegoo - Thanks for the dremel recommendation. I always wondered what those things were used for. (:oD

"A shark bit off the bottom of the pickguard. I swear it's true, honest!"
