I think the Epi Custom Shop is the guy who applies the decals to the back of the headstock.

I'm not sure about Custom Shop, but I've read that my Epi LP Custom Pro was built to the same specs as a Gibson, except it was assembled in China. Instead of Burstbucker Pros, the pups are called Probuckers. Heck if I could tell the difference.

It must be true. It was on the internet.

That's a good looking guitar, 5. I never got my hands on a White Falcon, but used to drool on them when I was a kid. I expected to prefer the White Royale, but I like the orange better.

The Epi LP Customs are built to the same "specs" - i.e. CNC machines sharing info, and whatnot, with the same values and whatnot in the electronics.

Not "Custom Shop" related at all - the LP Customs predate any Custom Shop labeling anywhere.

I'd imagine the their pickups just use the same "use magnet X, wind Y times with Z wire" formula just aren't done in the US>

I'd have to hear the things to say if they got it right or not, but as long as it sounds *good*, that's enough for me.

That said, I'm partial to proper 490/498s, I know exactly what I'm getting and not so much with any of whatever the flavor of the week is.

Gretsch scale length is different than Gibson/Epiphone or Fender and could contribute to negative feeling toward the brand. They do have a different feel to me but not objectionable.

jhawkr - I don't dislike with the Gretsch brand, I just don't want to "fight" a guitar. AND a rockabilly-style hollowbody is just ONE of the guitars I play. I "minor" in rockabilly. (:oD

Gretsch's sound really great and I love Brian Setzer, Poison Ivy, Reverend Horton Heat (Jim Heath) and other Gretsch players.

HOWEVER, the Epi Swingster Emperor plays better and stays in to better when using the Bigsby - at least the one that I bought.

There are so many choices for us guitar goobers these days; we are extremely fortunate.

A guitar player needs no more justification to play a certain guitar than, “I like it.”

Anyone who questions that statement can go pound sand.

I haven't used the Bigsby much on my orange Gretsch but the one on my Guild Capri is rock solid. I think I have had that guitar a year or more and have had to tune it maybe twice! I prefer the Guild over the Gretsch. My Epiphone is a Casino Elite and is second to no guitar IMO. It's in a different league. But, no Bigsby.

I have never owned or played a guitar with a Bigsby.

They should make some lefties. I’d probably be in if they did.

Mine is a pre-lawsuit-threat "Elite". 2003. Since I already have 2 Bigsby equipped guitars I'm not tempted to change the Casino.

"Elite"

Check out how much the binding has yellowed/aged as of March 2016. 13 years old at that point and is 15 years old now.

And again in 2016
