Courtesy of Johan Segeborn and some guy from Meshuggah whoever they are.
Whether or not you buy into the better than the real thing hype they're still cool guitars for those of us of a certain age who couldn't afford the real thing at the time.

I only have 2 Ibanez's, but it does seem that whenever I come across some guys they usually have 20 or so.

I don't think I've ever owned an Ibanez.
"E"banez or "I"banez, that is the question.
I say "I"banez.

Most folks think that it's Japanese, but it's Spanish.
Ibanez is pronounced E-bahn-yez.
And they're great guitars.

Ibáñez was a name used by Japanese maker Hoshino beginning in the late 1950s to market their guitars through a US distributor. The name Ibáñez came from a brand name Hoshino bought in the 1920s, when they were importing classical guitars from a Spain made by Ibáñez and Sons.
Gibson’s lawsuit never went to court because Ibáñez agreed to cease making guitars with the Gibson headstock shape.

It must be true. It was on the internet.May 11th, 2018 05:42 PM Edit Profile
At least 2 of my friends ditched Norlin LPs for Ibanez in the 70s, and my brother had a nice Ibanez copy of a Rickenbacker bass.

My brother has one of those early Ibanez Artist. It's a Double cut profile with a Golden-Honey burst finish and coil tap Pup's. It's a bit heavy but it's still a Peach, He dropped it and broke the head stock a few years after he bought it but he glued it back together, that was about 25-30 years ago. He's got some Fenders, a Peavey, and Gibson's but I think that Artist is his favorite.

A lefty Artist popped up on eBay a couple years ago. I was so tempted to bid but I never did.

I had a Ibanez lawsuit era P Bass for a while. It was a fine instrument, but...well...the market was taking off at the time and my partner at the time had just gotten sick (and I had my standard Jazz which got more play anyway)...
The things were great instruments when they were cheap alternatives to things, but...honestly, we're in the golden age of new production player-grade instruments and short of nostalgia for a particular thing, I can't see spending the money on "vintage prices" for what is effectively, well...still a lower-priced version of what it was copying.
Same reason I can't justify paying for 'vintage Squiers."

One of my favorite Strats ever was an Ibanez Silver Series a friend had. It had a maple neck and a clear coated blond finish. I made him promise to sell it to me if he ever wanted to get rid of it. Did he? (Bad words mumbled under my breath here)
