Yeah but they don't need to pay it all off with one guitar!

I have always said that even if I won the lotto I wouldn't pay outrageous prices for a guitar, vintage or otherwise. By that I mean a 5 figure price tag. Truth be told I could make an exception for a 59 RI. Birth year, fat neck like I like 'em. They are beauts, the 58s and 59s. The lotto payout would have to be a big one.

I etched “”1961” in the back of my SG with an awl.

Close enough.

I know a local guy who owns a real 59 LP and a "60 LP plus a 50's black Strat. He won't sell either.
He's not a collector and he's owned them for many years.

I played a used Gibson LP R60 last November while in Nashville that I would have bought, had my wife not been there. It was $5,000 which is expensive in my book, but not crazy stupid expensive like $12k.

I have a 2014 CR8 I picked up a few years ago 2nd hand. It was NOS condition with brown Lifton-style case and all case candy, from a private seller.

I'm convinced the guy had no real idea what it was because his price was unbelievably low (I checked to ensure it was not hot). I think he discovered his goof later on because six months after I bought it, he contacted me to ask if I'd like to sell it back to him. Either that or he needed some cash in a big hurry.

Gibson is still making some amazing guitars.

They'll fight over this one when I'm dead.

While expensive, these are the sort of flagship items for a gift to somebody (or yourself) when the "actual" is well out of reach.

What percentage of the MSRP is it versus the original these days?

Versus, say, another reissue?

Peegoo - Super nice LP!

I have a nice Gibson LP Trad Pro II and a limited Ed. Gibson Flying V. Both are great guitars, as is my Gibson acoustic (which is a Custom Shop model, but didn't cost a fortune).

Is that the Potter V with the pinstripes? They are a great-looking guitar.

Nicest guitar I ever played was a R9. It has *the* sound we all know and love. Neck shape is perfect (for me) as well.

Haven't been able to justify paying that much for a guitar yet, but maybe when the kiddos are out of college. The ones I like are in the $5-6k range, the $12k must be a Murphy aged or something like that.

If I go to GC's website they have only one listed and it's $7k or so. But they don't typically put the list price on a tag and despite the crappy photo,

here it is.
