I've heard better things about the xd, but never played through either myself.

I had the XD for mqny years. I now have an X2 and prefer it over the XD. The X2 has much better optional sounds, but that's just me.

Generally, the two are quite similar. FMIC added a lot of FUSE option, like the Mustang series, to the X2...something I could NOT careless about. The XD uses the old FMIC DSP board for its channel two effects...and they are excellent, useful and easy to select.

I like the option Fender provided for getting the X2 in the head only, with an available 1x12 cabinet. If you like all the computer assisted stuff...the X2 would be the one to go with, otherwise if you tend to be more like me, having an analog mind in a digital world, the XD is the one to find.

Had an XD for years and loved it. Why did I sell it? A pal made me an offer I couldn't refuse.

I wasn't playing it that much anyway, having moved away from dragging tube amps to jams.

Either the XD or the X2--you'll be happy with. They do sound great for what they are: a small, grab-n-go amp that's loud enough for jams, and it will cover a lot of sounds without the need for a pedal board.

Okay then. I am leaning towards the XD. After several youtube videos and comments here. I like simplicity. However. I wonder if the X2 with fuse software allows all the effects that were available on my mustang 3...ie pitch shifter...and the hi watt amp sim
