Does anyone know what size the phillips head screw is for a MIM Jazz bass bridge? (5) I am swapping out the standard bridge for a better one and want to use the original size screws but they are chrome and now I need black. Dont want to mess up the thread inside the body thats already there.

There’s no TPI (threads per inch) standard for wood screws. Best bet is to go to Ace, True Value, etc., and match what you have with what you need.

Another option is to use your existing screws and paint the heads with black enamel after you drive them in.

I went to Home Depot. Nothing like what I wanted. I have decided to go Peegoo's route. I'm gonna go but a bottle of Testors enamel and be done with it. Thanks guys!

RP, are they like the ones in the link?

The ones Stew-Mac has are 6G (3.5mm) x 1"

Yours could be 8G, but don;t know.

Hope this helps

Mick, the OP is looking for bass bridge mounting screws.

They're normally No. 5 x 1" or 1-1/4" oval head wood screws. No. 6 is easier to find and should work. Vintage-style basses, get slotted head, others get Philips head.

guitarpartsresource has them in black (link). allparts has them too.

2nd row, 3rd from left
