Not the band: the coyotes.
Woke is out of sound sleep last night about 2-AM. We have a local pack that vocalizes in the neighborhood most nights, but they generally don't don't come much closer than the chicken coop on the next property. This was so dang loud that I almost wondered if they'd somehow gotten into the bedroom. Must've been just a few feet outside the window because this howling was several orders of magnitude louder than ever before.
It's real dry hear right now so lots of animals are coming down out of the hills to look for water. We've had deer in the yard lately and I usually see at least one coyote during the mid-to-late morning when I'm out with the dogs.
There are a lot of them in the area and they're getting really blasé about people because nobody hunts them around here anymore.

Coincidence, coyotes we howling at 3AM then a small dog barks and goes silent. All over in a matter of A few minutes. Sad for the little dog.

"Sad for the little dog."
Yeah, coyotes are opportunists that will definitely go after pets and, when desperate, even very small children.
Our dogs are small, so I keep them leashed on walks and always scan for coyotes in the vicinity. A couple of times they've past by us within 20' feet or so and showed clear interest in the dogs. "Outside" cats routinely go "missing" at night around here.

"Bear spray works on coyotes."
I tend to not let them get that close.
However, sitting on the porch late night last Saturday, I saw one trot up my drive. He didn't see me until he got to the bottom step. I said "boo" in normal speaking voice and he about turned himself inside out getting out of there. Fortunately they're still skittish around here.

Bear to waiter: "I'll start with the large green salad (bleu cheese dressing)...then the two-small-dog appetizer...then the brisket of coyote, raw, please...and what wine would you recommend with that?"

Hopefully, opening Peegoo's wine bottle wouldn't yield results such as...
