After reading the Chris's get-well card to Pinetree, maybe I should start shopping for walking canes. Just to carry as a fashion statement. Something fancy.

I am reminded of a line from Simon and Garfunkel's song "Bookends."

"How terribly strange to by 70."

70 is the new 50. At least I say so. I don't really feel like a geezer. At least most of the time.

Happy Birthday Henry. My wife turns 60 this November, I'll be hitting 59 in October. Most of the folks we socialize with in our neighborhood are between 70-75 and it's an odd perspective. One just turned 73 the other day and I said "5 years younger than Ringo, eh?". I often pause and think "How did we get here so fast??".

Enjoy your day.

Happy birthday, Henry!

I'll be 68 later this year and, like you, I really don't feel any differently than I did 30 years ago. I'll go along with 70 is the new 50. It's the damn mirror that betrays us.

"and it appears you haven't updated your profile in a few years. :-)"

Oh, I'm in denial. But I fixed it.

"It's the damn mirror that betrays us."

I used to be embarrassed when my wife ordered senior drinks at Wendy's and Chik-Fil-A, but I looked in the mirror once and realized that I am fully entitled to any senior discounts offered!

Happy Birthday! I hit 67 a few months ago but still feel much the same as ever.

I don't notice much in the mirror, but recent photos...yikes.

My mother-in-law used to say, "I have an 18 year old mind trapped in a 72 year old body." True dat.

(Although as she's approaching 80, the mind is starting to slip...)

HBD, Henry - enjoy the fact that you're still on the right side of the dirt!

Happy birthday. May the neighborhood kids stay off your lawn, even if for just a day.

Thanks for all the well-wishes, y'all.

The only kids on our lawn are the grandkids. One always asks to mow it, so I usually let him. He does it for free. Our new battery-powered self-propelled mower is his new toy.

I'm more concerned about neighborhood cats on the bare spots of the lawn, doing business there.

Yeah, those kids you can let on your lawn.
