Ha! Good one!

Let's try this again...Hmmm...what did I say?

I had $200 saved up a few weeks ago for my guitar build. Instead, I bought a new pedal (Wampler Tumnus Deluxe). I don't regret it because, after some tweaking, it turned out to be a great pedal and I can get the OD tones I've been hearing in my head. So again, I have $100 but I'm jonesing for a new pickup.

My Carvin strat has a set of Fralin Blues Specials but the bridge pup is too thin for lead work, which is what I do a lot in the church band. After talking with Fralin, I'm eyeing the High Output pickup that'll be more beefy with more crunch.

At this pace, I'll never build that new guitar. :oD

I’m not one to be talking anyone off of the ledge.

I fell off.

But if it puts that guitar back in rotation I’d do that.

Good point!

I found the original box for my Blues Specials and noticed the bridge is already 5% overwound. I'm not sure if the High Output will make that much of a difference for the price, so I sent Fralin another email.

I went through a set of StewMac pickups in the Stang-o-caster with an overwound bridge that was @7.8k. I still wanted more bite. The GFS set in it now has a bridge pickup wound to 9.7k. I like it a lot better.

If I'm thinking this right, the BS bridge is typically 7.2K. At 5% overwound, that would be 7.56K. By contrast, the High Output is 9.7K. I can see how that could make a difference.

Yes, it will.

I don’t have any experience with Fralins. But I assume it would be a similar result.

There is nothing thin about this GFS bridge pickup.

I'm looking at GFS pups for my build.
