In hindsight, GFS has been very good to me over the years. Especially modding imports.

I need to step up and buy big boy parts for big boy guitars.

The bridge will be here Friday. Stick a fork in it.

This is my first relic. Not that I set out to build one.

Once again - I see the sparkles make it look like it's got a rough texture. It doesn't. It's hard to capture how this looks in person.

It plays great! I did a fret level on this neck and the action can be set low with no buzzing.

I still need to intonate.

I need to debug the electronics. Something is hinky in there. The individual pickups aren't like they should be. I think something must have happened while this was laying out for all these months. I'll probably just completely rewire it. It's not complicated. It's just two volume controls.

Nice Leftee!

Did you use water-based stains?

And how did you find doing the burst?

I've yet to take the burst plunge.

Ok. I just gutted it and put in a new switch and pots. All is well.

This guitar rocks hard in the late ‘70s early ‘80s flavor. It’s just a 500k volume pot for each pickup and a three way switch. The bridge pickup into a cranked Marshall is EVH. Well, all the tone, none of the talent.

This is water-based stains. I figured the body was somewhat toast from the paint, so I thought I’d give a hand-rubbed burst a try. It’s not like I was going to ruin the body any worse. LOL! Actually, I was down to just some paint in the grain on some areas of the guitar and I decided to leave that to “enhance” the burst with a little character.

In retrospect I’m not real happy with my first burst effort. I already have a second one in progress. That body is done and I’m waiting on the neck. I did much better blending on my second attempt. Pictures coming up in a few weeks.

I really like the hand-rubbed burst process. There’s going to be a lot more of it from me in the future.

It's not ugly in the same way the AMC Pacer is not ugly. Form follows function. :o)

It's "rustic."

And, if it is ever stolen, it will be a cinch to recover.

Oh, and it’s my redneck guitar.

:-P

Good thing I live down here, huh?

But seriously, Linda and I are really happy with how this one turned out. (-:

It looks fine. It has a late 70's / early 80's vibe.

I notice 3 teles in your pic. I have some catching up to do.

Soon to be 4 with the other Nashville I’m finishing now. I have a feeling that won’t sell, so I’ll keep it in the stable.

It reminds me of a Carvin - just has that vibe to it. But I'm betting it's a tone monster!

Looking forward to seeing your next one.

Then you need to do a sunburst Tele with double body binding... I'm thinking about ordering one from Warmoth to build yet one final Tele...

I’ve thought about a burst Tele.

I’ve actually got a set neck Les Paul kit, here, waiting in the wings. It’s got a spaulted maple top. That will get a burst of some sort. I probably won’t get to that one until the end of the year.

This guitar is incredible resonant. It’s a string-through hard tail and it weighs 7lbs. 4oz. I can feel the vibrations from the strings quiet strongly in the top horn. It sounds amazing clean or dirty. It does bring that hard rock tone in spades.
