FDP Forum / All Other Fender Guitars and Instruments / Help! Trying to find info on a XII electric, might be aftermarket paint

Jul 31st, 2018 05:00 PM   Edit   Profile

Howdy all, I'm trying to help sell my cousin's XII, he has MS and can no longer play and his memory is shot and can't really help with info on the guitar. I think it might be an aftermarket paint job, the XII is missing from the decal. Does anyone have any idea what the guitar might be worth, my cuz could sure use the money these days. How do I upload photos to this thread? Thanks!

You have to be a contributing member to upload photos here. Another option is to create a photo album in Imgur and post a link to it.

Your absolute best bet it to take six or eight clear and detailed photos of it and post it to Reverb AND fleabay.

That gets you the widest coverage across possible buyers.

Posting pictures would definitly help.

The Stratocaster XII 3T Sunburst and Olympic White models released 1985-1993 were natural head stocks and they apparently did have the "XII" designation on the head stock.

The Stratocaster XII released a Lake Placid Blue and Burgundy Mist model with the matching color painted head stock. They simply have a "Fender Stratocaster" Decal with no "XII" designation of any kind anywhere on the guitars.
The 3T Sunburst and Olympic White models also released had natural head stocks, but they also did NOT have the "XII" designation.

July 2018-?
Recently re-released only the 3T Sunburst and Olympic White models. I have not seen them, but they seem identical to the previous 2004-2010 models. (Natural head stock & no"XII" decal)

All of the above Stratocaster XII models were manufactured in Japan and are of very good quality & workmanship.

(Changed to clarify details)

Did you ever have any luck determining what you had?
