This project has been a lesson in ya get what ya pay for.

This is my last build with cheapie bodies/necks.

But I’ve learned a lot! So, in that sense, it’s good. I probably will try to sell this one. I’m sure I’ll take a beating. Worst case, I’ll keep it.

I thought things were going well with this one (unlike mine in another thread).

What happened?

Can we still get pics?

Here's the body. It's hard to see, but it sparkles a little.

The color is "Ocean Mist" - Rust-o-leum. I sprayed pearl frost over that and clear gloss.

I was going to go with a mint green guard, but the color isn't green enough to pull it off. It looks greener in these pics because the room is green.

Cool.
Finish looks good, and I don't think I've seen that sort of swirl pattern on a pickguard before. That looks good too.

What did you end up with for pickups?

"...dual coil single..."

I didn't know GFS did those. Is their equivalent to Fender Vintage Noiseless?
If so, I'd be interested in what you think about them tone-wise.

The FVN's are stupid expensive here, but I really like them.

This is my first experience with one of those. I use a DiMarzio virtual blues for the middle on these. It works out very nicely.

Thanks!

I'm happy with how this is finishing up. And I learned two things.

No more basswood. No more cheap parts (especially necks).

I need to wire this up. That's a bit of a pain. I'm going to wait until after surgery.

You seem to have about half a dozen projects up in the air right now (guitars, amps, speaker cabs) - don't know how you're doing that!

Sleep is optional.

I’ve been working from home for a while now. I’ve been off the road since April. So I’m home every evening, for a change. I fill a lot of my spare time with this stuff. I’ll even knock out a task during my lunch break.

I can’t get out much now so that gives me even more time for this.

Actually, the sleep comment seems to be somewhat real. I find it hard to sleep on this pain med.

The other side of this is that these projects keep me busy and intensely focused. That is great pain management. Time flies by and I’m not noticing the pain and discomfort.
