You're killing me Rev. I'm trying to pay down my sweetwater bill, but that blue jr sure looks awesome and i don't have a P 90 guitar.
Was thinking about a casino one day, but not anymore!

It looks like Gibson is doing something right. Another plus is that the weights are pretty good, too.

I thought I’d seen those somewhere before. I couldn’t remember where.
Thanks!

Assuming limited edition or somesuch, not that they appear to be limited as they're all over!
And this one was 6lb10oz on the site before I ordered it, so it should be a decent "bad day" guitar.

Arrived without incident (slower than usual because of the holiday, no fault of Sweetwater).
Modern Gibson "include a photo of it on the bench" applies, born on 8/6/18, polishing cloth, tool, etc. Gig bag is more than passable (and better than most) not that I'll be gigging.
Fretwork is flawless, like I've seen on all my modern Gibsons. Knobs popped right off to be replaced by speed knobs, because, well, speed knobs are the law around these parts.
Intonation seems decent, especially for a wraparound - out of the box it sounds just fine.
Tuners feel better than I thought they would, not that they're likely to stay long (robotuners, me, never!) once I'm sure it's a keeper.
It looks as stunning in person as photos. Rosewood is better than anything I've gotten out of Fender in almost twenty years as far as color and overall appearance, and feels decent as well.
Sounds like a P90 should , the "small adjustments to the knob yield big things" with anything that is responsive to them. My proper Bee Baa clone loves the thing (and cleans up to almost no dirt if I roll off at all), as does the little Marshall and HRD. Hell, even the Eleven Rack tweed patch I tested liked it.
My only (and it's not much of one, since that's how it's advertised and sold, and well, it's just that...) complaint would be the rougher finish. It looks perfect for this type of guitar, don't get me wrong - I just like supersmooth neck.
Will have to polish the bejesus out of it and it'll eventually make me happy, not that it's not playable and decent now. It didn't get nitro sticky so I can accept it as it is if it comes down to it.

Very cool!
That's where they save on production costs: an unleveled spray finish.
You can wet sand the neck with 600-grit paper and mineral spirits (don't use water), and follow that with some Meguire's Deep Crystal polish. It will shine right up.

I think I know what you mean Rob, it’s the lack of grain filler on mahogany. I like a matte finished neck but it needs to be flat. I completely understand why they do it that way and I wouldn’t complain about it at that price. Especially when everything else is just about perfect. Enjoy.

Congrat's Rob, nice guitar. It's great you get along with the neck finish, better than I at least. I had an SG Jr. in the same open grain finish and had to trade it away. Shame actually it sounded great.
Enjoy!
