I just scored a Recto-Verb 25 head on Reverb.

Because everyone needs an amp with 6 12AX7s.

Nice. I assume you already have an Ibanez or Schecter in drop C plugged into a Rat and a metal zone.
You’ll also need some black fingernail polish.
You can actually get just about anything out of a Mesa if you spend enough time with the knobs and switches, there’s just so many of them. Good luck.

I do have an Ibanez with a pointy headstock and a wang bar. I’ll go that far.

It does have a wide range of tones available. I checked out a bunch of videos before I dropped the hammer. And yeah, you have to take the time to dial a MB. I’m eager to give this amp a go.

Congrats Leftee. You’re going to get some serious crunch coming out of that unit. I’ve never owned anything Mesa myself, but I understand they are well built.

Congrats Leftee.

I'm a Fender & Mesa Boogie guy myself.

Here's the Mesa's I own:

'84 Mesa MKIIC+ 60 watt Combo

'84 Mesa MKIIC+ Simul-Class Bubinga/Wicker w EV
Fully loaded Combo

'10 Mesa Roadster Dual Rectifier 100 watt combo

These are the amp beasts in my amp collection.

Ive only ever owned one. A Mesa Boogie Rocket Reverb from their subway series. It's always been my favorite grab and go amp. Decent cleans and when you kick it in the butt it'll scream. 18 watts can go a long long way.
The only downside is the shared eq between clean and crunch. That said they are built to last.

I don't really know their newer offerings but tried another for a week or so once. It was a tweaker for sure . Some great sounds in it but I just needed something simpler to dial in. Great sound though!

I still have my Mk IV combo (with the black Walnut cab) and I sold my Dual Rectifier half stack a few years back.

Mesa is pretty awesome.

I’ve reached the bottom of my gear fund for a while.

All this ought to keep me muy occupied over 6 weeks of sick leave.

That and all the guitar builds I have going.

You're old. Then vintage. Then good!

You're getting some bad gas in your old age!

Looks like a nice amp. I really liked my 5/25 Express Plus - only sold it because of gas for other stuff (isn't that the way it goes?).

I hope you like it Leftee! I had a Mesa Lonestar for awhile, eventually I decided it was just too many knobs and switches. I don't even know if I tried them all! lol
Very versatile amp, however! I'm sure yours will be also. Good luck!

This amp came today as well.

It

is

awesome!

I only had a few minutes to check out both channels so I could leave feedback.

It is a pretty simple amp so dialing in both channels was easy.

It

sounds

excellent!

Color me impressed!

And, for the first time in my life, I own a Boogie.

(-:

And two Marshalls.

Life is good.

The unlikely pairing...

Around 2010 I bought a dead Boogie Rocket 44 on CL for cheap. It needed a OPT. It wasn't a good time for me to work on stuff, so I sold the chassis and the speaker and made money on the deal. This is the cab, which I converted to a 1x12 x-cab. It's cool because the Tolex (or whatever it is that MB uses) matches the head.

There's an Eminence Maverick in it now. This setup sounds excellent!

I've still got the logo from the cab around here somewhere. When I trip across it again I'll put it back on the cab.

Thanks!

I admit it. I am a sucker for bling. I was eyeing these any ways. When this particular head popped up, I couldn’t resist. (-:

See!?!? There's always hope that it can happen!

(-;

This thing is so much fun to play.

It has two completely independent channels. That includes independent reverb controls and power settings. I can set one channel at 25w and the other at 10w. The engineering in these things is pretty crazy.

Yeah... I am NOT going to mod this, before someone asks. LOL

I had a Mesa F30 for a while. I got it half price when the F models were being replaced by the Express ones which had a lot more features. I think the F series was under-rated. They had two fully independent channels with identical controls on each and were a great platform for pedals. If mine had been a head rather than a combo I might still have it.

I have to admit that there have been so many different Mesa offerings and models over the years that I have no idea about most of them. I’ve never paid attention as I always figured I’d never own one.

The more I play through this rig, the more I appreciate the brand.
