You're getting some bad gas in your old age!

Looks like a nice amp. I really liked my 5/25 Express Plus - only sold it because of gas for other stuff (isn't that the way it goes?).

I hope you like it Leftee! I had a Mesa Lonestar for awhile, eventually I decided it was just too many knobs and switches. I don't even know if I tried them all! lol
Very versatile amp, however! I'm sure yours will be also. Good luck!

This amp came today as well.

It

is

awesome!

I only had a few minutes to check out both channels so I could leave feedback.

It is a pretty simple amp so dialing in both channels was easy.

It

sounds

excellent!

Color me impressed!

And, for the first time in my life, I own a Boogie.

(-:

And two Marshalls.

Life is good.

The unlikely pairing...

Around 2010 I bought a dead Boogie Rocket 44 on CL for cheap. It needed a OPT. It wasn't a good time for me to work on stuff, so I sold the chassis and the speaker and made money on the deal. This is the cab, which I converted to a 1x12 x-cab. It's cool because the Tolex (or whatever it is that MB uses) matches the head.

There's an Eminence Maverick in it now. This setup sounds excellent!

I've still got the logo from the cab around here somewhere. When I trip across it again I'll put it back on the cab.

Thanks!

I admit it. I am a sucker for bling. I was eyeing these any ways. When this particular head popped up, I couldn’t resist. (-:

See!?!? There's always hope that it can happen!

(-;

This thing is so much fun to play.

It has two completely independent channels. That includes independent reverb controls and power settings. I can set one channel at 25w and the other at 10w. The engineering in these things is pretty crazy.

Yeah... I am NOT going to mod this, before someone asks. LOL

I had a Mesa F30 for a while. I got it half price when the F models were being replaced by the Express ones which had a lot more features. I think the F series was under-rated. They had two fully independent channels with identical controls on each and were a great platform for pedals. If mine had been a head rather than a combo I might still have it.

I have to admit that there have been so many different Mesa offerings and models over the years that I have no idea about most of them. I’ve never paid attention as I always figured I’d never own one.

The more I play through this rig, the more I appreciate the brand.

It's amazing how many different tones you can find in this!

Oh, and the owner's manual is like no other I've seen (for an amp). Top notch.

No, I'm not bailing out on Marshall. Never! (-:

I bought a Hosa footswitch so I can activate the reverb. It’s pretty nice on the clean channel. Not so much on the OD channel. It’s too splashy for distortion. If it is used used on the hot channel it needs to be turned way down. Really, so that is is just barely on.

Marshall has this down. Their reverb is a bit underwhelming but it works well in OD.

This is really a minor ding on the amp. I’m not bothered by it. It’s not like I use reverb with distortion. Even on the Marshall, although it is more usable on the Marshall.

there’s just so many of them.

I'll second that...and mini toggles as well.

There must be a sound reason (no pun intended) but who decided to put the reverb knob on the back of the Lonestar Chassis? I guess they just ran out of real estate on the front?

It’s the same on my amp. It is weird. Yeah, I figure it’s a real estate issue. This amp has a reverb knob for each channel. It’s turned all the way down on my od channel.

Why do I keep fixing things that work?

On my Mesa Nomad mine also has the reverb knobs on back. (3) The clean channel gets the most and the other channels get more of a spillover type of sound versus a direct sound. So, the 2nd and 3rd (distortion) channels have more of a subtle effect with the reverb adding to the tail end of the sound. In other words, it's weaker than the clean channel. Kind of an oddity, but it does help to keep those channels from getting washed out sounding and allows you to get a deeper reverb with the clean sound and can use your effects loop to add overdrive and other effects there and the distortion channels stay tighter.

On this amp it sounds the same on both channels.
